I had posted a thread a while ago about an engine misfire I was having, and wanted to tell what fixed it. First, changed the plugs, no change. Changed the wires, no change. I took it to a local garage that hooked up an engine analyzer, and it showed that cylinders 1 and 8 were missing the most. Swapped coil #1 with coil #3, the miss moved to #3. So, I needed new coils. Bought a set from Ecklers, put them in, with new stock plugs, and she's purring again like a new car!
How bad was the missing? A few burbles here and there, or serious missing frequenlty... Can you describe what it used to sound like??? How many miles do you have on your baby? For future reference...

It wasn't too bad when the engine was cold, but as it warmed up, it was noticable. I had to shift my A4 into neutral while waiting at a light, or the car would jerk around. And, as it shifted, the exhaust would pop. It was sick! It is soooo nice to have all those horses back where they belong! My Vette is an everyday driver with around 57,000 miles. One theory is that the NGK plugs caused the coils to break down, wrong impedence or something like that.

Ok, cool! Thanks for the info... I'm curious now though.. is this a somewhat common problem for others??
