I got my car washed today (04 Z06) and they were moving the pass seat back and the handle that you pull up just came off. Has anyone had this happen? I happen to get it back in there working, but now I am parnoid its going to come off in my hand. Car is still under warranty, so I might just let them deal with it. Any suggestions?
Not sure if your 04 is same but on 98, the seat back lever is held on by a "c" clip (in the handle). If you align the spline on the shaft with the handle and press the handle on firmly, it should snap on unless the clip is missing or the handle broken. Dealer has them for about $6. If car is still under warr. dealer will most likely replace n/c.
Its quite a chore getting the seat covers off to work it. I'd let them fix it under warranty. JMHO.
I think he's talking about the plastic lever on the side of the seat base. If so, he shouldn't have to do anything with the seat covers. I replaced the lever and wraparound bezel on mine several months ago, at a total cost of $14.

Manual says to use flat blade screwdriver to push down on C-clip to remove. When reinstalling make sure that C-clip is as high on the plastic shaft as possible (finger pressure only). It should SNAP in place.
Sorry if I wasnt clear on the issue. Let me try again. You know on the front of the seat there is a U shaped metal bar that you lift to move the seat back and forth? Thats the bar I was talking about. It seems to be holding again, but I am going to take it to the dealer and let them check it out.
I appreciate all the feedback on it. Sorry I didnt get back on sooner, been so busy with work and trying to finish the Xmas shopping.
I do belive that is a first. I looked at mine (with a flashlight) but could not see how it could come off. Under warrenty to the stealership. Out of warrenty unbolt seat, turn over, figure out a fix (parts needed etc.)
Good Luck
