Recently had my oil changed at a local shop here in austin, and not happy with them....at least they put mobile 1 in but 10w30 don't the cars call for 5w30? That Im not to worried about.....but the engine bay was a mess and there was oil all over the underside of the car where they drained and didn't wipe it clean....Also how do you reset the computer where it tells you the life of your oil change? Mine still stays 40%, is there a easy way to do this?
If you don't want to get into the menu, you can also turn key to on (not start) and pump the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds to reset the oil life.

10W-30 is also acceptable. Kind of strange they'd use it in winter though, usually only use heavier weights in summer.
Many local shops and even dealerships are ignorant about oil viscosities. 0W-30, 0W-40, and 5W-30 synthetic oils have rendered 10W-30 synthetic oils, essentially obsolete. There is literally no advantage to using a 10W-30 unless your engine is worn out to a point where thicker oil at startup is helpful.
Should you worry about getting 10W-30 oil this one time? No, as long as you switch back at the next oil change. You definitely don't want to take a road trip to sub-zero temp areas while you still have this oil in your crankcase.

I'm in Grand Prairie outside Dallas and have used 10W30 in all four of my Vettes with no problem. The weather we have in Texas and especially with you being further south than me won't hurt it at all.
they must have been slobs to get oil all over the bottom , i don't think i would ever go back there . do it yourself it is easier and cheaper , and you know it is done right .
Yeah I always change my own oil, but with this vette we got an extended warranty with it for a good deal 5 years 100,000 additional miles, but the stipulation is that you have to have paper work showing you had the oil changed at least ever 4 months or 4000 miles, from a commercial or retail service chain or business. Can't be hand written invoices..
