Start up ???
i am currently having issues with my 99 FRC when i go to start it. I had the battery check and its fine, but i hear that clicking sound, and it sounds like the engine is laboring a bit???
Once it starts its fine and good, but it feels like .. its getting to the point where there is no power to start it ???? and i dont want to get straned somewhere. Any ideas .. that would be most helpful ???

Did you have a load check on the Batt not just a voltage check.....you could have a weak cell and it will give you voltage but when you put a load on it like starting it is going away good luck .....A new batt is always a good thing.....

i dont think they did a load test .. but i am running a red top optima, which was put in in late 2005 early 2006. Shouldnt that kind of battery last a long time ???

You could have a battery that sat on the shelf for a while I have see them a year or more old since they were made at the factory...By the way Optima have a very good warrenity take it back and tell them it woun't hold a charge they should replace it if its only a year or so old.....

What voltage do you get on the Cluster voltage gauge and the digital volt meter when the eng is running??? Compare that to an actual voltage measurement at the battery terminals with the engine running.
Should be around 14 VDC

Voltage ranges from 13.8 to 14.2 when driving ???i took it in and they said the battery was good.. after the load test, and i have had no problems starting it up since for some reason.
Now do i write if off as a glitch or should i invest in a new alternator, as they said it took five seconds from start up to when the alternator kicked in to help the battery which was always around 13volts and would then go up.
I know its all computer controlled??? But is that normal ??

Checking the cables would be the next thing to do. Not only do you want to make sure they're cleaned and properly tightened, you should also look at the cables themselves (especially the positive cable) - the original Delco batteries liked to leak, and sometimes that leakage was enough to get into the cable and start the corrosion process. .
