Just got the Canon SD630. Haven't really had much time to use it yet but it's probably one of the best cameras out there. The Sony Cybershot 7.2 was my other choice but it was quite a bit more expensive and I couldn't justify the difference in price for the features.

Just goes to show it's not the camera...but the lighting..location..
and angle chosen by the photographer that's important..

Canon A 620/630 Powershot
Did a lot of reserach on CNet, consumer's, etc. The Canon A620/630 came up winners all the time. Bought an A620. has the swivel LCD screen for taking shots when you need to raise the camera over your head to take a shot. Excellent results with Auto setting, many other settings. Great video, built in microphone. All the features you could want in a fairly compact design. No matter what you get, there will always be something newer and better, so pick what's best for you.
Good Luck,

Usually one with a good mega pixal rating, around 5.0 to 7.0 will give you great pictures and video. I have a a Kodak easy share 6.1 and it is the best camera I've ever owned! Share the pics when your done at the show!
Thanks,Matt

I'm using a Minolta S304 for my pics - 3.3 megapixels. It's an older camera but works just fine for car shows and will take 60 second videos.
I'm sure they have an updated version out - mine was in the $300 range.

This should be on a camera forum...
Most digital cameras from 300-350 are about the same. You will get the same quality for the same price range. I would stick with sony or cannon though.
Actually I would get the nicest looking one... Ha

You can't go wrong with a Canon. The small SD series cameras are amazing and consistently produce stunning results for such a small camera. You will do well with any of the "SD" cameras (ie SD 600, SD 630, SD 800, etc). They are all about the size of a pack of cigarettes, so sophisticated, yet so simple to use. I would seriously consider spending the extra $$ and get one of two SD models featuring "Image Stabilization (IS)". That's an effective hi-tech solution for camera shake that you so often see in low lighting conditions. Great for indoor and night shooting. You can get clear shots at night that other cameras will blur, but you'll pay extra. The two models with IS are the SD 700IS and the SD 800IS. The debate as to which one is best is as fierce as the debate regarding BSMs on a Vette. It's personal preference. I personally like the SD 800IS because its the only small camera with both a wide-angle zoom lense and Image Stablization. Both these cameras have been in such high demand, they are hard to find, especially at the reputable discount houses. But well worth the wait. Try onecall.com or bhphotovideo.com. Both are quick, reputable and have excellent customer service. Good luck!

Very true, I am wanting a digital rebel that I think goes for 400 for the body and you pick a lense that sutes you for a little more. I have a sony cybershot but want a little more, somthing SLR like my old Canon A1 from the 70's lol. I've owned good Nikons but I dont see many around these days.

I use a Nikon D70s with several lenses. Probably not what you're looking for now, but when you are ready for a digital SLR, both Canon and Nikon make some good ones.
