Well it's time to repace my very noisy GY run flats with non- run flats. I have seen pics and read posts that indicate the non RFs do not have the same tread width as the same size RF.
What size will work on my 2002 thin spoke wheels, fit well, not rub etc...
The Tirerack site is not showing the tread widths any more!??

The GY runflats do have a 10.3 footprint compared to most non-runflats (275) rear that are close to an inch narrower. Must be the SIDEWALL CONSTRUCTION THAT MAKES THE 1" DIFFERENCE.

GY squares off the EMT tread while the other round theirs on the edges. The rounded eges seem to work better. The GY EMT being wider is a non-issue. The Firestone Run Flats that replaced my EMTs were much better handling and reduced my autocross times when I was running events on stock tires.
Here are the widths from Tire Rack:
The OEM Goodyear runflats are EXTREMELY WIDE for their size. The tread width is even wider than the 295 Z06 tires, here are the specs (tread width)
-Goodyear F1 GS EMT (275) 10.3 inches
-Goodyear Z06 (295) 10.2 inches
-Firestone (275) 8.6 inches
-Goodyear F1 GS D3 (275) 9.4 inches
-Goodyear F1 GS-2 EMT (285, 19 inch diameter) 9.2 inches
Tread widths do make an appearence difference, few of us use the ultimate grip of these tires.
I agree with Bill Dearborn...
My Auto-X times on Firestone runflats were lower than on the stock GoodYear EMT's....
The Firestones have more grip and better handling as well as lower noise even though that are about 1.5 inches narrower based on TireRacks data
thank you old vetter! Where did you get these measurements... Tire Rack does not show them any more???

I got them a while ago, some manufacturer's never list their tread width, Michelin is one. Michelin's are often narrower than others, they do get good milege (but not traction).
