A '97 to '98 Cobra is a nothing car, I eat them up with my bolt on
2V GT, I'm about 312 HP at the crank.
If I'm not mistaken, the 97 and 98 Cobra's were putting out 305 hp at the crank, which isn't anything by today's standards. I've seen the same cars supercharged and modded, putting out well over 500 rwhp.

Ok everyone, I purchased my 99 last year. In 83 I had a 81 (dog) the past six years I stored a 66 in my garage for a friend which I had access to 365 days a year. Now back to my 99! I have done a few bolt on mods and my time at the track went from 13.9 to 13.00. I only go down the track occasionally with my son who has a 99 Mustang GT for kicks. Take it from an old geaser like me; you did not buy a "modern" (for a lack of a better word) vette just to look at. Have some fun,if there are no police around and some punk comes up give it to him with acceleration and "blow them away"!!!
Sure safety is first but if you cant have some fun with your "fast" sports car then by all means buy a Mustang. Sorry son!!!!!!!!
Old and not so wise!!!!!

yeah, i'm 21 and bought my first c5 a few months ago, if i had a dollar for every stupid comment about someone else paying for my car i could have a new z06! oh yeah, a mustang is a mustang is a mustang...who cares
You guys in your 20's dont fret.....I've owned a Vette since the age 0f 35 & from then till now I still get all the dumbass wisecracks you guys get. Its called jelousy!
At 21 I was out of the country in the military and hardly ever saw a Vette and upon return to America as a young married person a sports car was not in the budget, but if it was I would of had a Vette and spanked those stangs, good to use your good judgement, I know I always like to let the throttle hammer and just kick some butt, but then I am a old man and like to surprise those that think he will just ignore me
It's always been Vettes against Fords. In 1955, I could beat a T-Bird automatic in the quarter with mine. In 1957, my 270hp 3 speed would walk a similiarly equipt T-bird E. The T-Bird almost killed the Vette in sales in '55, but with Zora's help the Vette pushed the Bird out of the performance market by '58.
before i put the loud exhaust on mine i used to get this a lot (being 17 when I got mine back in '03), might have been part of the reason for putting the exhaust on to begin with ...
all you have to do is just smile at them and say, "whatever makes you sleep at night" ..
I hear ya,
I didnt have my car more than 2 weeks (Also paid for myself and im young as well,21)
I was leaving a parking lot and some tool gets out his truck with two girls and tells me to light em up. I gave him the "f*&^-off" look, and he proceeded to say, 'oh, dad wont let ya huh?'. I thought about gettin out and beating him in front of his lady friends but I saved him the humility and let him feel good about his comment.
just remind him next time your tires cost more than his truck.
I get that alot to bc im young also. Most girls call me spoiled but when i tell them i pay for my car they shut the hell up Happy new years to everyone
Hey now, let's not be hackin on Mustangs here. If Ford would not have built Mustangs in the 70's, I would not have had anything to practice racing against for the real drag races. However the one nice thing I have to say about Ford is .....buy Chevy.
I was going to run him but its was a 35 and there were a bunch of turns ahead, not worth it, if we had a clear straight-a-way i would have gone just to show off to their girlfriends in the back that were staring at my car, but I think I am going to go with the guys idea of getting the plate IBOUTIT or I will sick with my idea of ITS-MINE.
Everytime I go to my local Ford dealer with my FRC to get parts for my 'beater' (a '99 Taurus), the sales guys always ask if I want to trade the FRC for a Mustang and I always say "No thanks, I like driving fast cars too much". They usually groan and walk away. Enjoy the 'Vette.
