Default lower z06

i would like to lower my 03' z , and there appears to be varied opinions and info already available , most "kits" available provide for only 1" of lowering .....by using the stock bolts it sounds like any amount of lowering that is desired is attainable within reason ? any experience ?

Hi bborello1 -

You have it backwards -

You can only get about ~1" of total lowering with the stock adjusters,

Aftermarket lowering kits are longer bolts in the rear that allow lower ride height that the stock adjusters.

Some folks either cut the bushings on the front bolts or remove the bolts altogether.

I have both of my cars lowered to the stock limits.

best regards -

From what I have heard, more then the stock bolt limits would be pushing it as far as ride comfort and smoothness, but that is just what I've heard and my .02. As much as I think that they look killer lowered, (Especially the Z06's) I have not made a change

In order to keep the rake of the car the same, I am assuming you turn each bolt the same number of turns. My question is, what portion of the car should you work on first if you want to maximize the drop and keep rake etc the same?

This thread comes up every couple of months, look up the old threads and go from there.

The practial limit as to how much you can lower it is how much scraping you want to live with. In the front you can lower it all the way on the stock bolts. In the rear, unless you install shorter shocks you will find yourself bottoming the stock shocks and the ride will become very rough if the roads aren't very smooth. The best handling is obtained by lowering the car about an inch all around and making sure you maintain the proper rake.

Drop the front all the way down, and then adjust the rear to compliment the drop in front. On a level surface, measure the car from the jacking points on the frame rails (where you put jacking pucks) the get your desired rake. Never measure from fender wells.
