Default tire size question

I spoke with the tire rack about rims and tires for my 2003 convertible, O.Z. super leggera 18x9.5 and 19x11 with BF KDW-2 tires. The recomended tire size by the tire rack is 265-35-18 in front and 275-35-19 in the rear. I was hoping to do 295-35-19 in the rear witch they said would be OK but because of the "tire relationship" the fronts would have to be 245-45-18.

Does this make sense to anyone, if so please explain. Thank you.

The perfect size rear to match those 265/35x18 fronts would be 305/30x19

OD 265/35x18 = 25.3
OD 305/30x19 = 26.2

This would give you the approx 1" stagger front to rear that C5's come with from Bowling Green.

I also do NOT like the 275/35x19 on an 11" wide rim. Not enough tire for the big wheel.

a 305-30-19 is a very good size for an 11" wheel. that is what i use and is very common.

The 305 will easily fit,, but after looking at BFG's website, I see they do not make the KDW tire in that size...

The diamater of the tire is the height of the tire from top to bottom.

C5's come with a 1" stagger, meaning the rear tire stands approx 1" taller than the fronts.

A possible option:

KDW-2's
295/35-19 = 27.1 diameter
255/40-18 = 26.0 diameter

One thing you might want to consider is wheel weight and its effect on ride quality. Heavier (than stock) wheels represent more unsprung weight - not good when it comes to ride and even acceleration.

Getting rid of runflats eliminates about 6 lbs from each tire and 24 lbs of unsprung weight, making the ride noticably better. Throwing on huge wheels and tires will do just the opposite, so be aware....

I'm planning on the OZ Superleggera wheels as well. I'm going with the Michelin PS2's 275/35/18 & 305/30/19.
