Its a sad day for me :(
"better watch the guages the rest of the way home to make sure it doesnt' quit on me"
Drove back the rest, sound was present the whole time but it never grew louder.
Next day I was worried that something was wrong with it, took it over to valaya motorsports (little plug: awsome guys, everyone in the bay area should pay them a visit with their corvette needs). Ted wasn't in so I spent some time talking to Mario, and he said bring the car in the shop will take a look at it to figure out whats going on. They pull the belt, started the car, and guess what....the noise was still present, ruling out the water pump. Tech said he thought it was the timing chain rubbing, that I would need to have the front of the motor taken apart to get it repaired. Tech also said don't drive it cause if the timing chain does go, then I'm going to have to get my self a new engine.
Take the car right home, park it and don't start it up until I can take it over to Chevy for them to work on it (couldn't have valaya do the work cause of extended waranty).
Drop the car off on friday at Chevy, right before the new years (yea no corvette cruising on new years eve....I was pissed) and started to wait.
I call everyday, two times a day (service advisors love this, actually...he's been really nice to me) with no updates until today.
I finally get a call today with an update....
Its not the timing chain
it inside the motor.engine is getting dropped right now to get pulled completely apart.
$3,000 to try and figure out whats going on with it.
All I can say is, thank god for an extended warranty on a used car. I would recommend EVERYONE who is buying a used corvette, if you have the oppertunity to get an extended warranty DO IT!!!
I'll post an update once they tell me what is wrong with the motor.
Wish me the best

p.s. If it turns out they have to replace the motor for whatever reason its going to be atleast another 10 business days with out my car....
I just want my corvette back home where I know its safe

Secondly I did get the extended warranty on my Vette when I bought it used. I've not had to use it yet, but I consider it some of the best money I've spent on the car. A small price to pay for peace of mind.
Let us know what happened when you get you Vette back.
I'm thankful for the warranty cause that repair number keeps getting bigger and bigger. When this repair is said and done, it will be far greater in cost than I paid for the warranty.

I'm in a bind cause my corvette is my daily driver, and I just sold my 2nd car, so its off to get a rental as soon as they tell me its a warranty claim (can't tell me anything until they have it all figure out they say) but thankfully that warranty covers my rental for 5 days.

Best of luck with the fix and the Vette will sound just as good as new very soon.

I've got a zero deduct GMPP for another 9 months, but have already dedided to extend it with another GMPP $50 deductible (the zero deduct isn't available on cars more than 3 years old). This post clinches that decision. Having this warranty and the peace of mind it affords means that I can continue driving my Corvette like a Corvette.
