My car forgets the keyless entry programming during the day. Batteries are new and I cant figure it out. In the morning the keyless entry works. Locks the car when I get to the office. 12 hours later, the car wont unlock. Battery is fine as the car start right up and the key quickly reprograms. I've tired both fobs. One doesnt work as wll as the other. Unfortunately the car forgets the key programing every day. Any ideas? I hope I'm not dealing with some electrical gremlins.

Mine did the same thing not too long ago - would program the fobs to the car and a day or two later, they wouldn't work. Ended up replacing the fob and everything has worked well since.
my 97 does the same at times. I just reprogram her. She must be horny, every time I reprogram her the horn honks...
I know that it might be silly to write this, but I just want to make sure we are all on the same page.... when you lock the car, you are using the key fob right? and that is when it is screwing up? When I first got my car, I was having the same problems, but it was because I wasn't locking and unlocking with the key fob...just checking.....
I just can't bring myself to pay $100+ for a new key fob.
And you wonder why 'Corvette tax' is high. Have you guys ever heard of ebay? I picked up my brand new jey fob for $15 or so on there. There is NO reason why anyone should pay retail for car parts in this day and age.

Yep, using the key fob.

You find me a brand new key fob for a 2000 vette on ebay that ends at $15.

I can guarantee you won't find a 2000 fob for under 50 bucks. I've been keeping track of the posts that describe the exact same symptom of losing program shortly after setting with new battery and every one has been a 2000. They all say a new fob fixed the problem. If you can find a 98 or 99 fob, it will work on the 2000, but you won't have the passive feature. They cost about the same. The 01 and up you can find for under $15 usually, but they won't work on a 2000. Good luck.
This guy claims to have 96 fobs for corvettes 97-03,auction #170054579675 but he wants $49.00.
Thanks David. I just sent him a message to see what he has. Unfortunately the fobs differe between 97-00 and 01-04. The 97-00 fobs are substantially more expensive. Kind of like the tire pressure sensors. I doubt they are the the 97-00 fob, but here's hoping.
On a side note, how do you like the Corsa's with the long tubes. I'm starting to get a bit tired of the drone with the Stingers and LG Longtubes.

We had a hell of a time with our fobs. One came from GM the other from ebay. My husband programmed them and all was fine---then the alarm went off and the car was honkin away like mad---we couldn't keep both fobs together---now his does not work and mine is a PITA---keeps locking and unlocking the car when you are near it then finally stops after awhile.

Do you have the passive switch on the bottom of the fob on? When on it will lock and unlock the car depending how far away the fob and the car are from each other. I know, tell me that you already knew that!..........Bruce
