Default window seperating from convertible top

This morning during a rain storm my rear window in my 2000 convertible suddenly came loose allowing rain to enter. It looks as if they are glued in. Local dealership say no repair is possible but must replace the whole top. Seems like a waste since the top is perfect. Any info would be appreciated.Ed.

The dealer is basically correct. I think people have been trying to reseal it in place. Most have failed.

Whatever dealership said "no repair is possible"....is ...the rear glass on my '95 was also heat sealed from the factory and came out right as I was buying it... and I had it fixed 6 years ago and its still doing great...They used some kind of black silicone and it worked great...you just have to find the right place...

Letterin Corvette Fever last month from a guy who used 3M double sided tabe the kind you use to attach body side moulding. Sounded like a good idea to me.

I have the same problem with my 2000 convertible top. I glued it back together with a glue suggested by a forum member and it stayed together for about three weeks before seperating again. My top is in excellent condition so I can't see having to purchase a new top. There has to be something out there to hold it together. My car has been under cover and in my garage for the last few months but when I get it back out around spring, I'll search again for something else. Maybe the black silicone mentioned.

I believe several Forum member have had luck using JB Weld to glue the rear window back in place.

I have a 2000 vert also and just recently I noticed the upper left hand corner of the window is beginning to separate. Thanks for the posts and suggestions!

Default window fixed?!

Took the advice using black RTV silicone and the window seem to be held in real well! Only time will tell if it will last but I took my time and it came out perfect, can't see any silicone. Thanks to everyone for your help!:

Someone suggested Gorilla Glue a while back but they never came back to tell if it worked. Whoever makes these has to use some form of glue so once someone figures out what that is.....problem cured.

I used JB weld on mine a few years ago, it's still holding fine!

There was a thread a while back where the whole window came out so don't wait to use JB Weld or whatever you choose because once the whole window comes out it's extremely difficult to line it up perfectly. You'll need two suction cups to hold it and another person to glue it.

Just curious, what brand of silicone did you use? How is it holding up? I have a C4 that the rear window got smashed. The top is like new so I hate to replace the whole top. I found a used rear window from Contemporary Corvette’s in Pennsylvania for $100. I also remember seeing an article somewhere on how to do this repair but now that I need this info I can’t recall where I seen it.
