I just received an carbon fiber air intake duct from breathless performance. It's looks great but there is nowhere to install the air intake sensor. Anyone else have this setup and if so what did you do?
Earlier versions of the C5, 2000 and before had a separate IAT. In 2001 and later the IAT was combined within the MAF.
That is why your duct does not have the port for the sensor.
I'm sure that someone with a pre '01 can give your instructions to what they did.
I suppose you could use youras a template and drill a hole. Then place a rubber grommet with an O.D. to fit the hole and an I.D. to hold the sensor
Before you drill any holes, wait for thoughts from others who've done it...from their experience, the IAT might be positioned in a better place to monitor air temps. I have no personal knowledge of this, but I recall there being discussions in the past.
I agree "hotwheels" thats why I posted the question, someone has to have come across this before. I decided to check w/you guys before I put the bit in the drill.
I have a purchased on from MTI and had the same issue. I applied masking tape over the area to be tapped, drawed the circle on the tape and used a drill bit to punch the hole. Once the hole was punched I used a dremel with a sanding bit to open the whole to the size needed. Once finished remove the tape and you have an exact hole with no scaring. If I remember correctly the whole is about the size of a nickel.
