Thats the problem here in Mexico speed bumps are huge everywhere
ernie
Dont worry chicago is catching up on the monster speed bumps. its getting a little outta hand. Car has to be jacked up like a 4x4 to make it over these things. I refuse to drive the vette into the city where i havent been before, especially to neighborhoods because of these mountains in the street. They dont slow people down at all. They still fly up to them, then slow down but speed right back up. pointless in my opinion, there should be stricter enforcement of speeding through neighborhoods and putting mountains in the middle of the street are not the answer. Rant over.
Have you ever been to Mexico City...................You would not believe what kind of cars you see down there....................
I lived in Mexico City for over 15 Years.........
In The Polanco, Pedregal or Lomas area......You see 20 year old kids driving M3, Ferrari's, Hummers, Corvette, Alfa Romeo, Benz, Etc....
But I agree, the Roads SUCK!
I have lived in Mexico City also, plenty of high end cars. You have to remember, in Mexico, there is virtually no middle class.... either people are filthy rich, or dirt poor. Rare to see folks in the middle.
And, the roads are pretty brutal,, lots of huge speed bumps everywhere.
We have a real mexican resteraunt at and old gas station here in Puyallup. The guy that owns it is from gaudalahara he make the real tacos fresh tortias with pork or steak or chicken with cilantro and white onions oh man is it good none of that taco bell crap.Oh ya my daughter works at at taco time but we don't hold that against her.
You should of opened the door and took a picture of the inside.....chrome chain steering wheel, dice hanging from the rear view mirror I'm sure she was pimped out
My father-in-law is here from the Philippines. Lived there all his life. Works in Manila, but has never seen a corvette.. of any year.. ever. I gave him a ride up our coast and made his day.
As you say there are not 2 classes there are 2.5 classes
1 Poor
2 Rich
.5 Middle class (middle class in Mexico is the rarest)
A Corvette here in Mexico is a car that the average Joe can't buy Imagine the minimum wage is 50 pesos A DAY...that's like 5 dollars and cars are more expensive here in Mexico. So a Corvette is rarely seen in Mexico as are Ferraris Lamborginis, etc. but there are many of those cars in areas like Polanco, Lomas, Pedregal and others. So if you see a Corvette in Mexico it's not going to be pimped they are babied cars almost never taken to the track and mostly 45+ year ald guys own them. Because they're so rare people stare at them a lot.
I use mine as a Daily driver with no problems at all...except for the damn speed bumps.
And please guys don't bring Mexico so down low, it's not as bad as you see on the news.
I drive through all the bump stops diagonally so the bottom doesn't touch them the only problem is the little black spoiler (sorry don't know how it's called) that goes under the front fascia it always rub against them.

Honduras Is Pretty Close To Mexico As Far As The Streets.
The Downtown City Streets And Some Of The Major Highways Are Ok. There Is A 2004 Turbo Porche With $ 12,000.00 Rims That Cruises San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Anyways, You Dont See Alot Of Nice, Big $ Cars. But, Alot Of Hot Spanish Women !!
Long story short,..., found car with no tires sitting on ground! nuff said
That happened to me! In Rosarito Beach, in the RB Hotel parking lot that was guarded by a RB Police officer (well, when I found him he was watching TV in the lobby of the hotel).
Back in mid-80's I had a Rabbit GTI with over $1000 worth of racing wheels and tires on it.
Walked out to get something from the back hatch and noticed car was sitting on the spare tire and the jack w/all four wheels and tires missing! (Most likely culprits were Americans as these tires/wheels wouldn't fit a standard Rabbit sold in Mexico.)
The good news: The RB Hotel wrote me a check for $100 and the RB Police Dept. wrote me a check for another $100! (They both felt the cost for stock wheels and tires in Mexico would only be $200) Where in America can you find a Police Dept that'll write you a check for something that was their responsibility?
My ins. co. (Wawanesa) denied my claim! I took them to Small Claims court and won! They paid the balance of my cost to replace what I lost plus the interest and finance charges on my VISA card from the date of purchase of new wheels/tires till the day of the case plus the one year following because the appealed the case then lost in Superior Court).
