I have been reading/hearing positive things as well--any possibility you got a bad set? Just asking---

So can the khumos be plugged?

The GM spec for the run flats is that they be able to go 50 miles in run flat condition and be fully repairable, and be able to go up to 200 miles in an emergency but would not be repairable. The Goodyears meet this standard. My understanding is that maybe one other tire also meets this standard. Most all of the rest must be replaced after any run flat inicident (cannot be repaired).

Not plugged...patched. I got a nail in one of mine and they did an approved Khumo patch procedure. No more problems since then.

I paid about the same for my Michelins PS/2 ZP's.....

When I was shopping the tires down, Kumho's were mentioned to me... Now I'm even more glad I didn't buy them.

You might have alignment problems, I'd have that checked before buying anymore tires.

can you have the khumo's repaired at any place that does runflats, such as a goodyear place, since there are many of them around?

Sure would be helpful if you will post results from the Fatmat. I just installed the insulation kit sold on this forum for $200 and did not have any noticeable noise reduction. (The RFs have about 15K and are getting VERY noisy. ) I wonder if just lining the bulkhead behind the seats would provide any tire/road noise reduction. Also, would some of this material inside the doors help the sorta flimsy sound when closed.
Thanks

I bought Firestone Firehawk runflats to replace the OEM Goodyears and I am very happy. They are quiet, no excessive wear so far after nearly 10,000 miles, and have very nice traction in all weather conditions (well I haven't tried ice).

Update on my Kumho's:
I complained enough to get the disctrict manager involved and we found out several things:
1) my C5 needed alignment,, I had it done when I put the tires on,,but it needed it again,, probably due to me driving the car everday in Atlanta,,and the potholes are hugh sometimes.
2) Air pressure is very critical. I use to run 28 PSI cold in them and when I went to 32,, the noise went away.. very odd,, rides more harsh, but stlll acceptable.
3) Also said the person that originally balanced them didnt know what he was doing and has been fired from the dealership. They said if I would have come in right away and got them rebalanced then they would not have cupped so badly. Of course my tires are now ruined and they wont replace them..
So the moral of this saga is,,,Get your tires balanced by someone who knows what they are doing and do it regularly (it's usually free where you buy the tires).
SO maybe I cant put all the blame on the Kumhos,, some of it is my fault.... hey as Henry Ford once said" Error is only an opportunity to begin again, more intelligently".

thank s ron
