Well, I have about 2600 miles on the Kumho run flats and they are getting so noisy(singing like all terain tires) that I bought a sound-proofing kit for my C5. I figured the $150 for the sound proofing was cheaper than getting new tires ( will also hide a little of the rumble from the Corsa exhaust).
SO far they are:
1) Noisy
2) Are cupping
3) Have been balanced 4 times
4) Sound like mud grips at 55 MPH
5) Are slippery on wet pavement
6) And seep air - I have to air them up every 2-3 weeks.
Other than that they look Great!!!!
Tire Store says that they all make that kind of noise...
Any body else's RFTs are that noisey?? The Goodyears that come on the car were noisy but no where near this loud............Will not be buying Kumho's again... Kumhos thanks ron
Dang!!! There have been such good reports on the Kumho RFs that I was planning to buy a set in the Spring before cruising weather. Thanks for the heads up.
I just had to say that I've had Khumo Run Flats for almost 2 years now, and have NEVER had any problems with them at all....They are wearing great, are not noisy, and never have lost any air except when the car sits all winter, (which is normal) Maybe I am the lucky one....but then I drive conservatively, and don't get on it much...just my 2 cents worth!

Spend the money, Get the Michelins. Discount tire, mounting, road force, and road hazzard for 1400.00 out the door (May 06). They will match Tire Rack. My FRC is quiet and handles like a different car
To Buell-Rider, I would be interested in knowing what you found for a sound insulating kit, especially for $150. Anything I've run across so far is considerabily more expensive.
Find my 01 coupe has too much road noise even after replacing the runflats with Michelin Pilot Sports and am doing some research into whats available to cut back on the road noise.

I've had mine for a year and have had none of those problems.
This thread just illustrates how frustrating it is to fall back on user reviews before making an important purchase only to find that you come out of it with less confidence in any product or decision than you started out with before reading the reviews. Don't get me wrong, I think user reviews are invaluable in making consumer decisions...especially those appearing in this forum...but they can be a double-edged sword!
I just hit about 8,000k with my Kumho's and ive noticed the following:
1). They are a little slippery when driving on a slightly wet road but perform excellent in heavy rain (please note that i have taken into consideration the oil and other crap that is dislodged onto the surface of the road after a light rain).
2). I have also found them to be a little "Soft" at higher speeds producing a small side roll when turning.

I'm running a set of Firestone Firehawks on mine right now and really like those tires. Much less noise, better handling and smoother ride than the Goodyears. For runflats, I'd go with either the Firestones or Michelins.

100 sq ft FATMAT Car Audio Sound Deadener on EBAY,, I bought 2 of them (200sq ft) at $79 per 100 sq ft.. and it really works, so far,, have taken out the rear mats and so far only have done the back end of the car,, will remove the seats next weekend and do the front of the car also.. will let you know..thanks ron
4500 QUIET miles on my Kumho RF's. Haven't noticed any slipping or other negative characteristics. They ARE much quieter than the GY's. Had the front end aligned when they were mounted and they are wearing perfectly. Only thing I've noticed is a slight "flatspotting " after sitting overnight, but that goes away within a mile or two. Mounted and balanced for $878.50 at a local Firestone dealer who ordered through Tire Rack.

Can either of these be plugged and what is the limit on how many miles driven on a flat? My goodyear tire has been plugged for about 4 years, but these goodyear tires are very noisy. I need new tires in March and can't decide what to buy. I want to be able to plug them and would like less noise.

Most of the runflats can go 50 miles with zero pressure and still be repairable. You can drive up to 200 miles on some of them (Goodyear for one) but they should not be repaired.

Tks for info. Look forward to your post of final results.
I put a set of Kuhmo Run Flats on in Sept. Did a 2500 mile road trip to Yellowstone. Ran through about 25 miles of snow squall. Never slipped an inch. Not loud either and never had to add any air. Took off a set of Goodyear non run flats to put the Kumho's on..Don't regret it a bit. Also run Kumho non run flats on a C4 autocrosser. These are good tires at a decent price.
well i finally went away form runflats this past month or so. goodyears are way to loud and hard so i had been running firestones, im too hard on tires to keep spending 1300-1400 for a set of tires, so i decided since its not a daily driver anyway, i spent 570 for the kuhmo ecsta non runflats from tire rack and oh my gosh....completley different car. expansion strips on the highway no longer send shudders through the car etc. i do feel them to be a bit softer in turns but got quickly used to them. for the money, runflats dont make any sense. take a plug/repair kit with ya, and even if u have to replace a tire when u get back its still gonna be way less than the initial cost of runflats.

Me too. I've got the Khumos and haven't had a minutes problem with them. They're SLIGHTLY quieter than the Goodyears, hold well and are wearing well. I don't drive all that conservatively either.
