Default dyno gain from cat back?

i was looking into either the B&B bullets or BORLA stinger
and wanted to know if there will be a HP gain with either kit over my Ti?

and anyone know what the weight diff. will be?

thanks!

About 0 hp over the stock Ti.

Not sure about weight difference since those catbacks dont have mufflers, I'm thinking maybe a 15lb difference.

You may see a couple HP from the systems that are straight through, but I doubt it would be measureable...

Some weights from the C5 general sticky

Per side:
~19 lbs - Borla Stingers (2-tip)
~22 lbs - Borla Stingers (4-tip)
~15 lbs - Z06 Ti

It is all about the more aggressive difference in sound and bolder/more aggressive looking muffler tips, etc (at least in the case of B&B Bullets). That being said you might pick up at about 10 fly wheel horspower with the B&B BULLETS or so but nothing you will notice (as the stock TI Z06 exhaust do a great job). Now the sound comparison is like night and day compared to my B&B BUllets which are loud, deep and aggressive sound like an old school American muscle car (but the interior resonance is not for the faint of heart)!!

I agree,i got rid of some of the resonance with a partition and tray . I put LG streets, cats , x pipe and the resonance went away but now it sounds even better.

Your money will be much better spend on a Long tube header system, it will also sound quite nice with the stock Ti catback

Well said. I put the Stingers on mine simply because I needed more volume.

Don't bother replacing your Hi-Tech cat back. It is one of the best setups out there.

Default dont waste your $$

If youre looking to get into a set of catbacks for hp gain, dont waste your money. The amount of money & time that went into R&D for the development of the Ti system was astronomical. The sound of the Ti system is unique to only the Zo6. The weight beats anything you can buy aftermarket.

If you want to change the sound, then buy a good set of LT Headers. I have heard a couple cars with headers & the Ti system & its a freakin awesome sound. Do some research & ask for some soundclips, I'm sure someone has something to offer up.

i am all ready doing the TSP header kit this weekand...
with cat less 3" x-pipe, but figured it wouldnt help that much in the sound department.
im coming from a H/C SS with cut outs.... so i miss the loudness....
and i do like the sound clips ive heard.

and i know that the Ti is VERY hard to beat! and i dont think i could pull it of unless i put on somthing lighter.

You know thats why I havent messed with my original system.I came close to getting either a Borla Stinger or BB Bullets but I cant bring myself to modify the car. The car is just fine the way it is for me.GM modded it for me at the factory. ...If it aint broke dont fix it is my take.Unless your going to get some real seat of the pants performance gain.

Got 2 rwhp going from Ti to Bullets...that could just have well been 2 rwhp less. IMHO no performance gain with the Bullets over the Ti's

However, I have long tubes and an x-pipe, and to my ear the car was quieter after installation with the ti's still on.

My main love for the Bullets are the tips Just great looking, best out there IMHO.

The Bullets weigh about 3 lbs more than the ti's so you lose there, just another reason performance gain is not an issue on a Z with Tis

Sound: I like it loud sometime and dislike it other times, sound is just up to you. I keep both catbacks, incase I want to change back and forth. A long trip might get me to swap back to my ti's. Around the area I still like the race car sound.

If I could weld my Bullet tips on my ti's I would, and have the best of both worlds. I like the sound on ti's but the tips are lame. Cannot polish them like SS and they do not stick out enough to be seen. Almost looks like no exhuast from certain angles.

Sad, but I don't beileve I can weld to Ti

Default not to steal the thread but....

....since were talking sound level, does anyone with the Ti's notice them getting louder with time? Recently, I notice mine seem to be louder than they were when I got the car in May last year.

I have heard from several reliable sources that a cat less Z with headers and stock TI exhaust sounds BAD AZZ without being obnoxious. May want to try that since I see you going that route to make sure if you like it. If not, put on elec. exhaust dumps on your new set-up and you can go as loud as you want with a flick of a switch!!

Great point, I kept the factory Cats. That may explain why mine seemed different but not louder.
