Default Shorty Antenna

Does anyone know if the shorty antenna can be installed in a vert to replace the power antenna?

Yeah, of course it can...but why would you want to?

I cut mine down because it was too much of a pain to install a power one.

I'm sure some audio expert will correct me if I'm but I think you need to have the antenna at a certain height to get good FM reception. Can't remember exactly but I think its 28'.

I suspect your question means can you install it like replacing the FRC or Z06 antenna with the screw in shorty. The answer is no. You'll have to replace the internal part to have the base to screw the shorty in to. The FRC already has the screw in type base and you can just remove the long one and replace it with the shorty. The convertible antenna retracts into the hole and below the fender, so there's no threads to use. You can, however, replace the whole antenna ***'y with the FRC type. As previous poster asked, "why would you want to"?

Thanks for the replies from all. That is what I thought. A friend has a 2001 Vert and doesn't like the look of the long mast.

Default Shorty Antenna

New to the forum, been looking for about 3 months. Thanks to the forum I have gotten the brass headlight gear and replace it in about 20 mins with the help of the pics.

Before I got my vert someone had broken off the top section. I did get a replacement but will have to remove the plastic strip that moves it up and down. (later this winter) fornow I screwed a 10 inch old cell antenna in the broken antenna and keep the base down to the fender not only looks good but picks up both am and fm great. I will still replace broken mast later on.

Cut mine down to 10"...no difference in reception at all.
