Did you really expect the kid behind the counter making $7/hour to know about a Vette? Don't you remember yourself at 17? This is like complaining about the McDonald's drive thru kid not understanding that you are lactose intolerant.
To be fair to the "kid" ... try looking up a part like a wiper blade on line at www.napaautoparts.com and you'll see the first thing you're gonna have to enter is the Make/Model/Year/Engine before you can look up a part. You might know that the wiper blades are interchangeable between a LS1 and LS6, but the computer doesn't, but it does know that certain transmission and other parts are different.
I found that these guys have to ask because either they didn't ask once and got bit, or their boss train them to ask all the questions ecause someone else didn't ask and got bit. The problem with computers is they do what you tell them, not what you want them to do. I pretty much give parts guys a break because I know it is faster to just tell the computer what it wants to know.
It's car sellsmen that I get frustrated with. I went to Jeep with intentions of coming out with a new Cherokee. But I walked out when the salesman insisted that I didn't know what I was talking about because Jeep never never put a V6 in a Cherokee. I had just sold my 84 (with a V6), otherwise I would have run over him with it and showed him from underneath. As it was, I went to Ford nxt door and bought a convertbile mustang. And now I'm replacing that with a Vett.
