License plate cover - front?
My wife just got a ticket in Houston for not having the front license plate on. Can anyone tell me about a cover that can be put on over the license plate - now that it has to have one on?
Thank in advance...

There are a couple of options. You can get the factory front plate insert (it comes in black) or you can get it painted body color from various vendors. You can also get a clear cover that is made to fit the C5 from vendors as well.

You may want to check state laws. If the plate is required on the front it is probably also required to be visible, which would allow only the clear cover.

The factory front plate bracket allows the entire plate to be seen. It's different from the solid cover with the word Corvette embossed into it. I probably shouldn't have referred to it as an "insert".

My recommendation would be to get the painted surround and install it. I have it on mine and it makes having to run the front plate more acceptable.

This is the clear cover you were asking about

Some members have painted a section inside. One guy made it in the shape of the Chevy logo. Mine's just clear.
You still need to watch out with this option though. Some states don't allow the plate to be covered at all. Not sure about TX.

I agree. You order it in your car color, its a 5 minute install. All the major corvette houses online sell them.

Had it done. Just tape off area on the
backside you want exposed, and spray. Simple mod with this cover, keeps the lines of the bumper intact.

I've got a clear cover on order, from Zip, I was hopin' it would be here by now. And I'm going to do it something like Jetz, but different!
Tell me somethin' Jetz, did you paint from the inside?
TIA
EBZ0602
We must of been peckin' keys at the same time, I see from the backside, I like backsides, well some

Hi Frank, That's the BEST I've seen. How'd you curve the sides so nice ?>George

Be advised, in TX the word Texas as well as the numbers must be fully visible. Any kind of cover over the plate, such as the clear ones, is illegal.

To me, that's the whole point, to match the curves of the outlined area with the curves of cover itself. This way, one compliments the other, and is more uniform, as opposed to using square corners. Sometimes, little details make a big impact.
