I've had my 98 since 2002 and have had to have the following things repaired or replaced. Mine must be a "Monday" car.
a) 1 of the radiator cooling fans.
b) Throttle Control Module
c) starter motor gear stuck and chewed up flywheel
d) "4" O2 sensors
ALL of above with approx 50,000 Kilometers on the car.
e) drivers side diff leak
other than those things I love the car.
The other thing you may want is a service history...If your nice to the local Chevy service manager, he may run one for you. That way you can see what may or may not have been already done.
We own the 999th 1998 off the line. Bought it about a year and a half ago. Other than having to replace the idler pully and belt we haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Previous owner took very good care of it. My wife and I "LUVET" and I think you'll love yours, too!
I bought my 98 this past JUNE after having a 91. No issues yet she currently has 87,000 miles and is a sleep till Spring. This is a GREAT VETTE your going to LOVE IT !!!!!!
