Default Oil Sample Testing

Does anyone use oil sample testing to determine when to change oil? I use it on my diesel truck to determine when to change my oil and what condition the internal working components of the engine are.

quite a few here do it although I think most of us use it to keep track of wear or possible problems. The oil life monitor seems to work remarkably well. Judging from my oil test results it's dead on!

how does the oil monitor work ,just by mileage or is there a small grimlin in there testing it?

it monitors based on oil temps, revs and time.
so short trips add up faster than over the road.
quite an impressive system and it works well too.

I just use the oil life monitor. I think it works just fine to tell you when to change the oil.

Oil life monitor, or depending on the mileage once a year. Only put 4400 miles on it before putting it into storage this winter.
