Default most bang for the buck

Ive got an 01 zo6. Im looking for more power. Ive already done the suspension, brakes, intake and dyno tuned the car. next in mind i want to cam it and port the stock heads(most bang for the buck?). I need a cam that will wake it up but not **** the wife off when she drives the car to work. Ill be doing some auto cross and road course on the weekends. Ive been thinking comp cams 224/224 .566/.568 112 lsa. will this give me what im looking for? Will it pass the wife test? Will it idle good? Help me please

Put the cam on a 114LSA and it should then pass the wife test.

Just order that cam with a 114+4 instead of the 112 and you will be golden. I may be able to help you with the order info you need if you wanted to have it custom ground by Comp cams directly.

You are not going to get the most out of heads and cams until you open up the exhaust. Seeing that you have a Z, all you need are longtubes like suggested. Your stock TI catback breathes fine enough as is.

A couple of things.... You mentioned porting the stock heads. This is a viable option, but also there's several "budget" aftermarket heads available that'll not cost much more than doing your own heads, and then you can sell the stockers for 3-500 and recoup alot of your costs. These'll outperform your stock heads ported in most cases, and at the same time upgrade your valvesprings,(they're included) which are a weak link anyway. Check out the vendors list for all the options. Also, the 224/224 cam is great, but you can go a little bigger and still pass the wife test with a good tune. Have fun!
