We have the Vegas heat so about the same. I have Kooks LTs on my Coupe. Heat has not been a problem. I also run an Electric Water Pump and 160 stat. Mine stays at 185 in the summer. I also have H/C package 408 rwhp.

On a stock motor you can do any intake you want including ZO6 airbox lid and the most you'll get is 3-5 rwhp.

That's the most you'll get? I read somewhere that you need about 10 RWHP to pick a tenth in the 1/4 mile, so if that were the case I guess the most I should have picked up was a half of a tenth in a 1/4 mile, then please explain how after the Vararam install, I averaged between 3 and 3.5 tenths quicker, and picked up 4 MPH in the 1/4 mile, you sure dont pick up that kind of time and speed with your claimed "maximum" 3 to 5 HP gain

Mine are JH coated from end-to-end too... That's why the delay. JH dinged them up the first time, sent them back, they supposedly fixed them (recoated over the dents), sent them back again, Katrina hit, JH's factory was in MS, FedEx lost track of them in MS for several months, finally found them, then finally got JH to buy me new ones from LG and coated and got to me a week before I deployed to Iraq... Been back 4 months, Navy transferred me, new baby, new job, new house... WHEW!! ONE of these days I'll get these puppies on!

guys thanks for the input. My next dyno run will see what increases I get from long tubes, (hopefully the GP from Texas Speed ) ls6 manifold and ported TB (no hp from the TB, I know this) and a tune once I get past the learning curve for LS1 Edit.

Not to mention that I will be trying to keep the cost factor low.

Cam decision is now my next research project.

Wishing you all the best.

Brad

I put mine on in six hours on monday. My hands still hurt a little. Was a little bit of a biatch, but saved $600+ on the install.
All I can say is that it is WAY louder than I thought it would be. I have stock mufflers with the muffler mod. I am still getting a P0133 code every 3 ignition cycles on the road. Something about slow response.
The power is totally seat of pants there. I need to dyno it next week to see what its making.

Based on your 10th per 10 rwhp you gained 30-35 rwhp. NO WAY NO HOW.

Also many other variables. Track Condition, Air Temp, Humidity, Wind speed and Direction, Tire Pressure - Simple answer. DRIVER IMPROVEMENT

I wasn't counting my improved 60' times, if that were the case I could really inflate the numbers, considering the best run I had before Vararam was 13.49 @104 and my best run after was 12.89 @108, that would equal 6 tenths and 4 MPH, the improvements I'm going by are after the 60' mark, I ran 8 runs after the Vararam 4 were @107 and 4 were @108 picking up 3 to 4 MPH is a tell tail sign of what it will do. I understand about weather and all the other things you mentioned. I'll give you one more food for thought, I friend with same year (stock) but a 6 speed would pull me in the 1/4 before the vararam, even if I got the jump, after the Vararam even if he would get the jump on me, I run him down and pass him, he couldn't believe how much faster it is now, and if you want I even have a video showing him get the jump and me, and getting by him
