Default Headers..good..bad..no difference.

Hey Guys,
Do headers increase gas mileage or decrease or no difference? Just thinking before installing them.

Thanks.

Idon't know about the Vette, but my Mustang GT gained 2 MPG with BBK shorties, it felt like the engine brake was removed, and the car revved soooooo much faster. People on the Mustang and Corvette forums don't like shorties, but in my case I'm very pleased with the results, LT's, I'm sure would be better, but i don't want to deal with the hassles.

My gas mileage went down.....

....but only because I get on the gas more often to listen to the sound!

don't go shorties... go long tubes. the gains of a shorty is worthless compared to stock. long tube will give way more of a performance increase as well as sound AND gas mileage provided you drive like your normally do. there is a reason EVERYONE goes long tube and not shorty, spend the money on long tubes, you won't regret it.

I agree! I installed my own LTs and its kind of a pain, so do it once right (LTs) and enjoy the sound.

Heh...this ranks up there with the EPA's latest gas mileage improvement tips that say to "remove all unnecessary weight from your vehicle".

"Honey, I need to buy some long tube headers to improve our Corvette's already great gas mileage?". I love the sound of that sales pitch already!
