I saw this "tip" given at the time the '78 Pace Car went on the block. The car was owned by a VERY (they said nervous, you can fill in the blanks yourself) person. the car had only 117 miles on it and had never been dealer prepped, still wearing all the plastic seat, carpet protection, ETC and even at that, I thought it brought a rather low price.
There's always much to do made on this forum about those of us who have garage queens. I truly believe that somewhere out there someone is looking for a specific type of low mileage car, whether it be a Corvette or other make, and is willing to pay top dollar for it. Granted, it may take a considerable amount of time to find that buyer, but there is a market for low mileage, well-maintained cars. That being said, I wouldn't dream of selling my car. I like it too much and best of all, it's paid for.
I, too, want to thank the garage queen owners. I bought my '01 vert 3 years ago and it had 9xxx miles on it. I hate the depreciation of a new car but I love searching for that special 'diamond in the rough'.

You had me going there about selling your car for more than you paid. Until I checked your avatar. With all those mods you should be able to sell it for alittle more than you paid.

I am looking for thoughts/opinions on getting my 98 serviced. It is garaged in Arizona and only gets driven an average of 150 miles per month (less than 2k a year), all highway miles.
Should I still have any type of yearly service done? Since my last service, one year ago, I'm at 65 percent. Thanks for any input.
Drive it like you stole it. As mentioned in another thread, C5's will not be anyhing special to future collectors. These cars beg to be driven. If you intend to drive less then 2k per year, change oil every 6 months, flush coolant every 5 yrs, check plugs for carbon build up and let it rip once on a while to blow out any carbon.
I build a new 850k custom house about 50 yards away from a moblie home sitting in the middle of 150 acres. About 6 months after the house was done I dropped by for a visit. The guy didn't even move in yet. I asked why, he said it was to nice to move in to, he just liked looking at it. He also told me he had a couple of brand new cars in storage that he never drove. Did I Mention that the guy was single, never married and in his 60's. and drove an old junker WHY????
Sorry to get off-topic ( GO AHEAD AND CHANGE YOUR OIL ALLREADY)!!!!!!!

Nice Car!!!!!
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not naive enough to think that I'm going to get more for my car than I have into it, but I wouldn't do too badly. I didn't purchase it with the intent of selling it for a profit somewhere down the road. This will probably be my first and last Corvette, but it's nice and somewhat fast. I want to do more mods, including Caravaggio racing seats in the spring, so that hole is getting deeper and deeper. Actually, not all of my mods are included in my avatar.
Like I said, I think there's a market out there for just about every kind of Corvette, whether low mileage or not. I also realize that should I ever decide to sell if for what "I" think it's worth, people arent going to be breaking my door down to buy it.
I want to thank all the owners of the Garage Queens for keeping their cars like new. I just bought a 99FRC w/13,000 miles for $18,000. It's nice to know their are plently of mint condition C5's out there for us to buy when the owners get bored of storing the queens.
You probably got one with 13,000 miles of 1/4 mile all out romps. Enjoy your garage queen.

No - The owner is one of my customers. I saw the vette sitting in his garage when I was building a front porch for him. We traded the porch for the vette!! Never had a mod done, He never spun the tires
Sell the car to someone that will DRIVE it! Use the money to buy a piece of art, a picture, statue, or some other item that you can sit and stare at! Ron
Why waste your time with this stupid post? I am asking advice on a forum about having my car serviced.
You don't know anything about me or my situation...maybe I have more than one vette, other cars, travel for work, and so on. You don't know anything about me, so no need to chime in with comments like that. Just looking for advice on a car that doesn't get driven often...I never asked anything else.

Also, I don't understand why everyone on this forum gets so worked up when they find out someone doesn't put on 15000 miles per year. Who cares?? You can do whatever you want with your car.
Here's my .02. I have always 10-12 cars in my possesion. Change the oil before you put it away or 3-4000 miles. Drive it when you have time and fix what needs to be fixed when it breaks. These newer cars don' t really need to be worked on like back in te 50's and 60's.There you have it. Always worked for me...................

Give the guy a break. Yeah. I know....they were made to be driven. Just because you collect stamps doesn't mean you have to mail letters with them, or if you collect coins you don't have to buy gumballs with them, just because that was what they were made to do. Like many other members I enjoy owning and looking at my car even if doesn't get driven a lot.
I have to wonder...why buy a car if you never drive it? Makes no sense to me.
It wouldn't make any sense to me, either, if I lived in San Diego and never saw snow..
However, for those of us who see snow (and salt), lots of us don't want to drive it thru that crap.

No kidding, that was me just a couple of months ago. I bought a low mileage, garage queen and paid a fair price for it. I'm happy with the deal and really that's all that matters.
I have a dd, so it's not going to get a lot of miles but who cares. As long as it's there when I feel like driving it.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
