Probably a silly question but here goes. At a parking lot where they have cement curbs that you pull up to is there a trick on how to pull close without hitting it? I always slowly pull up till i think im close then get out . Then i go look so see an like a fool im 3 feet away! AM i the only one that cant park?
backing in is not a GOOD SOLUTION, YOU HAVE SOME EXHAUST PIPES THAT NEED PROTECTING. JUST PARK HEAD IN AND DON'T WORRY HOW FAR OUT YOUR NOSE IS, JUST DON'T SCRAPE IT...
i'm usually extremely careful about this, but last night when i got home from work, my gf parked her car with the nose end way over the curb(no problem with clearance), which kinda threw my depth perception off and b4 i knew it, i heard the evil scratching sound followed by the raising of my front end hated myself for it for a few mins but it'll make ya learn to be more aware... at least nobody saw it!

This works every time. We also "back" in the Driveway/garage, 'cause you allways know whats behind you on your own property and then can "see" what's in front of you when entering the street where the "unknown" lies in wait. IE; The car that speeds down the street in front of your driveway apron or the kid on his bike/quad. I've allways thought this is safer than backing out blindly into the street or from a parking spot into the through lane.
i back in almost anywhere i go, in any of our four cars, except maybe the neon if i have to push a shoppign cart out of the way at wally world or something haha. anyway, thats something that was "suggested" strongy in our driving courses for the PD. u drive past the spot u want, see whats there, back into it because u pretty much know whats there already and when u leave u can see perfectly well whats in front of you and avoid suprises. plus i guess sometimes we have to leave in more of a hurry than some others. jsut good practice to get into IMO.
It's even worse in a C4 with more of the hood out of sight. I always stop 3 feet short of where it looks or feels as I should and many times it's still to long. Following the same rule in the C5 I end up with just the right distance.
Just leave plenty of room and don't even try to get close. C'mon, you're not going to stick out anywhere near as far as anything parking anywhere near you. Seen one of those 30ft long Suburbans yet? Leave yourself lots of room
