Most C5 and older Vettes are very friendly and wave to me, etc.
I have noticed that people in C6's (non Z06) Vettes are not so friendly. They won't wave, and they always seem to want to race. They will stay back, then do a "fly by."
There aren't too many Vettes around here, so I don't have a huge sample.
I've seen people in C6's wave around here more than they don't. If a Vette wanted to race mine, I would be disappointed at the disrespect. Then I would have to bury him in car lengths, unless he was packing some serious ponies.
Not so much that, but I've definitely felt that many different types of people own a Corvette, and not all of them are what I'd call enthusiasts. I've had more trouble with people with C3s and C4s not returning waves, which was strange to me. However, I'm willing to bet I've just run into some 'non-enthusiast' owners over time.
Since I don't drive my Z06 that regularly, I'm sure it's not the best sample size either. Heh.

I agree Steve. Some people don't have that certain Corvette thing we have. When I was 8 years old a Yellow 70' Vette caught my eye and it was all over right there.

Before I bought my current Vette (03 Z06) I never really thought about buying one.
I've have lots of fast cars and motorcycles since I was 16 years old. My dad was a Ford guy, so I've had several heavily modified Mustangs.
Then when the C6 came out I was considering one of those and test drove a few. Then I started hanging around here and learned more about the Z06. Then I made up my mind I wanted a C5 Z06, which is a decision I am very happy with.
I have always been a performance enthusiast, but I am a very new Corvette enthusiast.

Same as me, only I was looking at '99-'00 FRCs then moved up to Z06. And yet I love to do the I am ignored more by C4s than anybody. Overall I'm pretty suprised how the vast majority of the public look right through me as though I were driving a white Sentra. I work with a long time C5 owner who didn't know what a Z06 was. "Do you have a glass top?" "It's a manual? Five speed?" "Why are the engine covers red?" I went with the corvette for the performance. Obviously, others do it for other reasons.

Yea, a lot of people are just not on the "corvette frequency" they buy em cause they can afford them or they think they are cute. Which, I believe are two of the reasons there are always plenty of super low mileage used cars available. Not for the reasons the purest buys one. My love affair with vetts brgan in 1958, I saw a truck load of 58's being delivered to a local dealer. My Dad said they were junk. He still thinks I'm nuts.
I just traded my 997s for the Z06. I had the same problem with the porsche, everybody looked at me like I was crazy. If you monitor the porsche forums the same thread appears also. I hope this tread turns around for all cars. I will see if I get better luck in the Vette. I wish they would have made the Z06 stand out more from the base Vette. Unless you on this forum or other forums ie. porsche, BMW M5/M6, etc you have no idea what makes a Z06 speical.
No offense to you guys, but when I owned my 2000 SS Camaro(sold now, to pay for the Z06), I would wave at all Camaros, Firebirds, and Corvettes. Only F-bodies would wave. I figured 'Vette owners were just too stuck up to wave at the Camaro and Firebird. Then I get on here and ya'll complain about other people waving. Maybe I'm just stuck with some blind guys around here............
So far everybody I have come across has waved with the exception of two.. And they were both in C4's, one of which happened today. But i'm not offended, if I wave and they do not wave back it isn't a very big deal to me.
