Default Spirited drive with a Camaro

Today was a nice day so I decided to take the Vette for a cruise. Saw a few nice cars on the street but nothing really stood out. On my way home a black SS pulls up alongside me and gives the thumbs up. Well we head to a long stretch road. I was surprised to say that he stayed with me until 3rd where I pulled away about 3+ cars. I thought my car would have put more distance. Is this right? My car is stock (dynoed 364 hp at LGM). His car had lid, shorty headers and something else(can't remember).

Never, ever think that you can walk a 4th gen f-body especially if your stock. First, those cars (SS and WS6) put down on avg 320-330rwhp in stock form. Second, just like us most are not stock anymore. I had a WS6 prior to my Z and in a straight line it was equal with the few mods I had (Hot cam, headers and 4.10's). Awesome cars they are.

Yet another story where someone who owns a Z06 has missed the point of the car. It is a production road racer, not a dragster. In a corner a craparo would kill himself trying to follow you.

I can't believe you referred to the Camaro as "crap". You obviously have never owned one. Yes, the Z is a superior car to it in stock form but its no where near crap. Its attitudes like that that causes the F-body crowd to not like us for the most part. Save it for the mustangs.

Those are in the same class as far as I'm concerned - sorry if that bothers you. Like what you will.

they were underrated...just about like everything GM rates

my BONE STOCK '00 WS6 6-speed (didn't even have LS6 intake manifold) dyno'd at 318rwhp and ran 13.1@109 with nothing but a lid and cutout.

The '01 and '02 cars dyno around 325ish stock

Thanks for the info. I had a '00 WS-6 that I sold before buying the Z - I had no idea...

Default Craparo

Being an SS owner I take exception to Tw1lghts "Craparo" comment.
I was shopping for a Z06 or GTS. It will be a GTS now. Who wants to be seen in a "CrapVette"?

I just sold my 2000 Pewter SS to pay for the Z06 and I honsetly thought I was going to cry when the guy drove off with it and slammed through the gears. Tearing my old baby up like that. Of course I never treated her like that...

Never, ever, EVER underestimate a Camaro , cause the poor man's 'Vette might just put you in your place one day

I have owned a few camaros in my day and will never underestimate one... they are fast cars stock... and can be made really fast with just a few mods... I remember putting a few vettes in their place when I owned my f-bodies...

Sounds like you and the Camaro guy had a good time. I'm sure it was all done on a private test track too!

A buddy of mine has an 02WS6 TA. To say the thing is slow would come back to bite me.. Now, handling is a different story - One I wasn't impressed with (it's bone stock). Either way, I like the Fbodies

Very well said. I just thought that my weight/HP advantage would make it easier, but anything can happen on the street.
