Being an SS owner I take exception to Tw1lghts "Craparo" comment.
I was shopping for a Z06 or GTS. It will be a GTS now. Who wants to be seen in a "CrapVette"?
While I totaly agree that camaros are excelent cars and certainly don't deserve the "craparo" moniker, Twighlight is correct in that the vette is a roadracer and that is where it shines. As far as choosing a GTS instead of a Z06 because someone on a Corvette forum slams a camaro... please give me a break. You are either a total fool for letting something a Z06 owner (or anybody for that matter) says effect your decision on choosing not to buy a great car, or you are just an SS owner who never had any intention of buying a Z06 and took great offense to the admitedly rude "craparo" coment. Just realize that for sure, none of us Z06 owners could care less if you buy a Z06 or not. As a Z06 owner I know that you are only denying yourself the great experience of owning the best sports car (IMHO) that GM ever built (until the new Z06). I hope that by implying that you may be a fool, you don't do something to hurt me like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. I don't know if I could live with myself.
By the way I was thinking of buying a Camaro SS until you called corvettes "Crapvettes". Now I am going to buy a hundai.
Yet another story where someone who owns a Z06 has missed the point of the car. It is a production road racer, not a dragster. In a corner a craparo would kill himself trying to follow you.
This guy is a tool...and thats my opinion, sorry if you dont like it! Thats the type of attitude that gives vette owners a bad image.
Mr. cool in his z06 is king of the road and wouldn't be cought dead driving next to a camaro.
no reason to slam a camaro or a corvette. new z06 was around $50k, new camaro ss was around $30k, add another $20k worth of mods to a camaro and it would take a vette in everyway. Its just a matter of what you prefer. My camaro was built to go in a straight line...my vette would bow down to my camaro in a straight line. I could change some things on the camaro and it would kill my vette on a road course. its just a matter of what the car was built by its owner to do.
But if you want to consider stock for stock, with price not an option...the vette wins.
"Fool"!!! Thank you for validating what others have said about snobby Vette owners. You ought to drive a Hyundai. I'll be seeing you disappear in my rear view mirror. Don't bother replying. I'll never see it
Nothing like a whole bunch of people who are so dead set on whatever they like that they are easily riled up but someone who doesn't like it. Get a life.

Whoever said that about the Z06 being a road car and the Camaro being a drag car is right. pretty much. My Camaro didn't handle to bad. Sure the Z06 handles better, but anything can be made into anything with the right amount of money. Honestly, I would love to be able to own a Z06, SS, and an SRT-10 all, but there again, there's this thing called money. You put $20K into an SS and I can guarantee you you would scare the s*** out of yourself. Bad cars. The Z06? Bad car. The GTS or SRT/10? Bad car. Comon guys, if you going to hate on something, hate on the government trying to restrict our fuel supply!!! Pretty soon none of us are going to be driving any of these cars because they are going to be a thing of the past because there will be so many emission laws. (You could also hate on the imports. Just save the Mitsu Evo and the Porsce GT3 your flaming )

Yet another Z06 owner who would get saddly owned by my wife in her "craparo" which will hang in the turns and eat you alive on the open road...
I love my Z06, but a LS1 with Heads, Cam, full bolt-ons, and full suspension will surprise you!
EDIT: Sad thing is she has an ECS cam and Fast 90/90 setup on the way... All I get is a shifter and a partition... hahah.

Hey, watch what you say. I have many a good Friends whose last name is Craparo

Machine's statement was right on. Now that you've made up your mind to buy a GTS , you can stop posting here.

At the racetrack, I'll take a professional driver with countless hours on the track in a lighter, more ballanced, car with better brakes and probably tires over a car with more power. I like the camaro, but telling Twi1ght he would be "owned" at the track is probably not accurate.

True if the car was setup for drag racing only.
Weight reduction is just a few simple steps; obviously not to the weight of our cars, but more than enough to balance the power to weight ratio.
I guess you missed the mod list on the wifey's "craparo", might want to re-examine the suspension and brake upgrades. Matter of fact her Camaro has better brakes than my Z06 right now...
I am glad you are so free at assuming you know either of our relative skill levels behind the wheel as well...
You may not want to put money on your wager my friend.
