I complained about this as a warranty repair and at the time knew it was worse in the colder winter months and was sure the dealer would have just replaced the trunk shocks but they had the ***** to tell me "they all do that" and declared this "normal operation?" Add this to the stack of non acceptable "normal operations" on the GM flagship that we dropped $54K on?

I believe you don't experience this problem in it's entirety because of the climate there in Florida. Just another great reason for moving there, right guys?

Hmmm. That sounds too easy, but I'll try it. The oiling of the center console surprised the hell out of me!

Enough BAND-AID attempts to fix this issue!!!!!!

There is a Forum Vendor (Vettemods.com) that for a looooong time offered a resolution to this matter, and few took advantage (I was one that did).

It is called the OpenEz Trunk Lift.

It replaces the OEM trunk latch,

It is powered, thus the trunk is "pushed up" by a motorized part when the trunk is activated by the FOB or the dash button.

Even the most ill prepared CF member can install it (needs a few torq screwdrivers and a couple of sockets and the ability to splice three wires).

I can attest that this works.

Cost a $ or two, but worth it

Try raising the rubber stops a tiny bit after lubing all the above mentioned parts.

A Window Valet may help here - it allows you to control the windows (up and down) via the FOB buttons. t seems to be one of the vendors had made a kit to add more spring force to the trunk springs too....

It's definitely a sure fix but too pricey for some. I tried to find a post that explained an adjustment to the spring but couldn't find it. If you have a vert with the top down shutting the door won't work. I guess that's a duh.

I too have used the WD-40 trick on mine and it works perfetly now. It did take more than one application over two or three days. I guess it needed time to coat everything.

Thanks guys, yes our product addresses this issue. I to was fed up with the constant attention this required and after some trial and error came up with this product. It basically lifts the lid after the factory mechanism releases.

We are currently out of stock while I wait for some parts, but I should have them in soon so check back!

Take care,
Rick

These 2 posts address the issue without an add on modification and expense.

I have put up with the trunk lid not opening without extra help (slamming the door) for 6 years. Today, I decided to take the trunk compartment apart and lubricate the spring to see if it would help. It didn't work. So, I loosened the 2 bolts that hold the spring mechanism in place and moved it around and closed the trunk until I found the sweet spot then I tightened the bolts. For my vert the sweet spot was to move the spring mechanism to the far left (left if you are facing the trunk) and center of the bolt holes. It now works great, every time! I don't know if this will help other folks but, I wanted to share my good fortune.

OK......I just got back from visiting with my "local vette expert" and............ ............it took him literally 2 seconds to fix my problem!

I've spent over a year trying to make adjustments, change parts, and research solutions, not to mention coming up with alternative ways of getting that f'n thing to open!

As I previously posted, my problem was that the catch on the deck lid was not centered on the locking mechanism. Well, I explained the problem and, get this; he simply pushed on the entire locking mechanism to bend the frame just enough to realign the lock with the catch.

Now it pops open like new and I'll never doubt him again! Now its on to my next fix! I hope this helps anyone that has the same problem that I "had".
