The passenger door on my 02 Convertible will not unlock with the key FOB while outside the car, but it locks normally. The drivers door works great when locking and unlocking as does the trunk. Has anyone out there had the same problem? Can I fix it myself? Or do I have to bite the bullet and take it to the dreaded dealer?
Any suggestions as to this problem will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Hi Bob, Just for clarity, do you mean that when you press unlock twice on the FOB, the passenger door does not unlock? If that's true, then when you press lock on the FOB, do both doors lock?
Thanks for your reply; yes, when I click on the FOB to lock the car it will lock both doors! When I double click on the FOB to unlock the doors it will only unlock the Drivers Door, then I have to go inside the car and manually open the door lock for my wife to get in.
Do you have any ideas?
I have this problem as well, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I read somewhere in this forum that it could be the contact switch in the door. You might be able to take it out and clean it, but I haven't tried that yet. They say that the switch is expensive to replace,,
I had the same problem awhile back. I replaced the door control module. Now it works beautifully. I found a used one for $100 and did the labor myself.
F.Y.I. The dealer wanted $399 for the module plus labor.

bingo we have a winner - well most likely. They fail all the time. Lost my drivers side. Glad I had the window valet to open and the window and then unlock the door.

Me too.
I had the door control module changed - it was a problem with output voltage - and problem solved. There's a DIY How To out there somewhere. It shows how to strip down the module and change the lock or unlock relays. I'll post a link if I can find it.
