Probably because when you pop the dash button and get out and shut the door the air pressure pops the lid up more.

It wouldnt be bad if we could get a finger under the trunk, but most of the time the lid doesnt raise above the rear "bumper".

You could swing by Home Depot or Lowes and get some plastic dip, dip the spring any color they have (yellow, black and red), it will stay flexible, offer alittle color and protection, Just a thought
