Default 18 inch Wheels all around

I'm getting new wheels for my C5 Coupe and have decided on 18" wheels all the way around. The fronts are 18 X 8.5 and the rears are 18 X 9.5. I'm planning on keeping the stock size P275/40 ZR 18's in the back and I'm confused on what size tire to put on the front to keep the right look! What would be right size to run upfront?

Use a calculator such as this,
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
in conjunction with the tire mfr's wheel width recommendations.

Since you are not going any wider than stock - the widest tire you can fit is a 255-40x18. That tire 26" tall, so you might consider a 255-35x18 which is 25" tall and will better maintain the stagger with the stock size.

But why are you limiting yourself to these sizes?

BTW - my source of information is the Michelin web site....

I guess the next question is will a 18 inch wheel and different size tire affect the speedometer reading?

I almost bought a set of 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rears today. After a ton of research and help from other CF members, I've decided to keep the 17's front and 18's rear. I figure GM did it for a reason also, give the cars a slight sloped look.

If you are going to go 18's all the way around, put some 245/40/18's up front, they're the same size as the stock 245/45/17's.

Ohh, and by the way, this is for everyone... this is the coolest tire size calculator I have found. Let me know if you have a better one.

Dude,

I'm running 18's all around also, but I have 18x9.5 front and 18x11 on the rear.
I'm running 265/35x18 tires on the front and 295/35-18 tires on the rear. No problems. . .

Ciao,

running 295 front and 315 rear on 18. although this is a good track setup the 295 fronts are too wide for most roads.

Could some of you guys with 18's all around post some side pics. I was going to order the 17's and 18's but if the 18's all around look good, I might just stick with those.

I'm running the same tires as Cobra on 18x9.5,18x10.5 Z06 motorsport wheels

The ABS/AH/TC/Speedometer don't care about the diameter of the wheels, only the outer diameter of the tires.
