[QUOTE=z50won;1558871634]the z06 is getting more power, 650 hp, but im not sure if thats going to be 09 or 2010. doesn't seem to make much since for GM to create the ls3 now and kill the value of the rest of the c6's. seems to me they should wait for the c7 to do the ls3.
Why would they care about the value of C6's they already sold? Their job is to sell new cars and more power will boost sales of new C6's.
Didn't I hear that the factory that makes the LS motors is closing or something?
I know I did read in some car rags that GM has pattented a 3 valve pushrod motor that might have two cams in the block; There is a lot of speculation that this will replace the current LS motor, sounds crazy, but whatever makes the HP.

Gm could care less...
all of the waxers n gerage queens over in C6 who want to re-sell those uber rare C6 vettes with ecklers stuff are the ppl going cause their car is depreciating quicker then anticpated.

they would care b/c with this word about future cars and engines spreading now, sales for current cars are likely to decline now, declining sales=less money and they are already losing plenty of that in the U.S. today...who wants to buy a c6 with an ls2 this year when they could possibly wait until next year and buy one with an ls3, maybe a few, but the majority would rather wait
Its like buying a PC you can get one now or late until the new higher performance model comes out in 6 months. If you keep waiting you will never buy one.
They are in a horse power war with the competition. They have to up the ante to stay in the game. Just like the 60s all over again.
Well it sort of makes sense. I'm not sure how much more HPs they can squeeze out of a stock LS2 and with many of the competition or even non competing cars at that HP range, they have to do something to push the Vette ahead of the crowd. I don't know specific numbers but so many ricers are pushing near this HP. So what the General to do... make a bigger more HP motor.

Put a blower on them Oh I see a used C6 in my stable to go with my fire breathing C5
hmm, if its an '08 LS3, then the LS2 will have had a 3 year run....not too bad,,, and likely time for GM to upgrade and update anyway....to keep current and competitive
i dont think that there is an "official" name yet, i really am hoping they dont call it an SS though...i did hear a rumor that chevrolet may be buying the licensing back for the zr-1 name. If that were to happen i think that would be pretty cool!
Why is it everyone gets worried about their horsepower rating? It takes 450plus horsepower just for imports to compete, not necessarily beat, a C5Z or C6. Its really all about the driver. I never hear the Porsche crowd cry about our hp vs theirs and those cars can flat get with it on the track. Besides, didn't a C6 hand a GT500 its ***?
