greeting vette owners.....i take one of my three key fobs and hold down the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously near my 2000 coupe for a few seconds .....then i receive the horn chirp indicating compliance.....then proceed to mate fob with the onboard computer on the dic....it says okay.....the fob will work one time ...then no work until i repeat the process.....i suspect the vehicle transmitter is failing ??? any suggestions for a fix ????
First suggestion is the most obvious - have you replaced the battery lately? If you have already replaced the battery and it still does this you are probably due for a new fob.
You say you have three fobs with your car? Do the other two display the same symptoms? Did you do the fob training with all 3 fobs in sequence?
If the horn chirps when you hold down the lock and unlock buttons, you don't need to "proceed to match to the dic". If it didn't match already, you wouldn't get the synchronization chirp from the horn. If you search key fobs, you'll find dozens of the 2000 fobs with the same problem you have. If you've tried the cleaning the contacts, replacing the battery, you need a fob (for the 2000, make sure) There's also a post where someone took the fob apart and found an IC chip with the contacts broken and he resoldered them. He posted pictures and instructions. Try the search.
I had the same problem on one of my Fob's. I pulled the battery out and went to Walmart and bought a new one for $3 and change. Reset w/onboard computer as specified in book and all is good now!
Change battery first! Rember how close you were to the computer when you were programming it and now you are at a distance from the Vette!

Mine did the same thing. If you have a good battery in the fob, it very well may be the fob itself going bad. I replaced my fob and everything was fixed.
