I flipped my black C5 and smashed the roof in on it and the front clip is beat up pretty bad and the paint is all scratched up so I figured if the frame isn't bent (or getting it fixed if it is) that I will get this conversion done. Let me know what you think. -Chris
Looks like a nicely done thing but I'm not a fan of the retro thing. A modern motor and suspension in an old chassis seems like an upgrade, but an older look body on a new frame seems like a step backwards to me. I know it seems hypocritical but that's just how I feel.
But as they all say, it's your car and your money -- do whatever makes you happy... you don't need our permission. No one here has a lock on all the right answers.
If you have a damaged C5 I think it would be a great idea. You sure wouldn't see another one running around in your town most likely. How much are they?
I was looking for a price on the kit and found used body parts (c5 not human) for sale and they have several colors in stock. These are the old parts off of the c5 before they convert into the kit car and have have the factory paint. This would be a great place to buy body parts since they are already painted and someone could install at home plus i would think the paint would match good esp. the factory orange peel. I seen a few repaired c5's and they look funny since the paint is smoother than factory. If I need a front bumper or rear bumper this would be the first place I looked and I could install myself and not have nightmares about my poor c5 in some body shop with the 3 stooges working around her.
I think it looks different in a good way. Heck ,look at the new mustang and challanger. I think those retro designs are cool. I agree it would be best to do with a wrecked vette though.
Not for me...It looks like 5 generations in one car. Just too busy. If I had a couple million, sure why not. Would not spend my hard earned money on it though.
