i bought a Jetta for my kid and ran a car fax first...came out clean. After just a few weeks it was apparent that the car had been wrecked...badly...after some research found out it had been totaled...ran through a few state to clean up the title and here we sat with a piece of junk. Carfax is not worth the paper it is printed on.
oh well, its still better than taking a blind shot on a car, and just because you got screwed doesnt mean that the case is going to be the same for every car
can anyone help me out i need a car fax, i would really appreciate it.
Hey, if you going to spend good hard earned money on a Vette - don't ask someone else to run a CARFAX. Just spend the $24.95 for a 30 day unlimited vehicle history report and go shopping for cars!!!!!
No offense, but if you can't afford the CARFAX - can you afford the Vette?
As to the CARFAX not worth the paper printed on: if a crook runs the VIN through various states to come up w/a clean title - that is not CARFAX's fault. Even a DMV title search would not have detected that without crawling through and under the car for the hidden VINS!
FWIW: knowing the PP or finding out as much as possible can deter or prevent fraud etc. And if it is a dealer, you have recourse and may recover your loss - but that is a PITA!
Oh well, just pay the $24.95 or 19.99 for a one time run!
In todays newspaper was an article about Car Fax loosing law suit against them for false and left out information. Judge hit them with multi million dollar fine.
