I just my first C5 ('99) with only 25K miles. It is mint and I'm wanting to keep it as stock as possible, for resale purposes. I'm only going to drive it on weekends and am not pursuing hp, etc. but want an exhaust change that will not cause it to sound like my Cadillac, but also won't scare away future buyers who are looking for a stock C5 in mint condition. Anyone have any ideas? (In other words, I'm after a subdued throaty sound that won't scare the little old ladies or "mint condition" buyers.)
I asked the same question last year when wanting to change out the exhaust system and not wanting to sound like a crazed hot rodder going down mainstreet in a small town. I wanted a nice low throaty rumble that sounded one step above stock.
It was suggested that a Magnaflow with a x-pipe would fill the bill. I went ahead and got it and it sounds just like I wanted it to. In fact, I have gotten another one for my new vette again, this year.
You can hear how it sounds on the magnaflow website.
There used to be a vendor (A&A maybe?) that sold a cross-over pipe that you could weld between the two exhaust outlets to give you a bit more volume without any expensive modifications. Perhaps someone here can shed more light on it.
A bit more aggressive but still acceptable to the average bear.
Damn Patches! Do you ever DRIVE that thing or do you just sit around and clean and polish it all the time? You're making the boys at Bowling Green look baaaaaad.
