New member: No 'Vette!
To compare, a 1999 C5 coupe automatic with 47,000 miles will run you around $110,000... in the US, the same car can be had for less than $20,000. So the impossible is suddenly very possible. But like I said, I'll have to wait a little while.
(it's damn hard though when you see some of the Corvettes on this site
)Take care all,
Jacob
JC5DK = Jacob, C5 (obviously) and DK for Denmark. I do work in the import industry - like container freight from all over the world coming to New York, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Charleston, Savannah and also to some other non-East Coast ports.
The 100k for the Corvette is what that car costs in Denmark right now. Don't even ask about the price from new.
Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
I keep checking the for sale threads and dream on putting the hammer down in my own one day.
Tell ya what JC5DK.....ya ship my car overseas and sell it for $85000 and Ill give you $20000 US cold cash !!!
And Im absolutely dead serious !!!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
But other than that, thanks for the offer!! That would be a gold mine.
Great - that is exactly my plan. When the time comes, I want to know much as possible so I know what to look for and what I should expect to pay. Knowledge is power, as they say.

Actually today at work I had a chance to dig up some Corvette info. One of our customers is exporting a '92 Corvette to Denmark and we needed to find out its dimensions to be able to accurately quote him a freight rate. So I could surf for some Vette info while getting paid. Talk about a job!
Then someone had to say: "Corvettes? They're so ugly". Then of course I had to get into a discussion about how I found that very untrue and asked what her idea of a good looking car was. "A Mini Cooper". I then said I would need two of them and then I'd have rollerskates. Come on.
That other thread with "what's the stupidest thing..." Yeah a lot of that came up today. Gas mileage, expensive car and all that.
I'm a sucker for good value. The Corvette has pretty much everything. Iconic status, powerful V8 engine, killer looks, awesome performance (and enourmous potential for upgrades as is evident from so many cars on this forum
), a reasonably cheap price, outstanding fuel economy for its class and it's even usable as a daily driver. Not many cars have even half of those features.
My current car is a 2000 silver LHS and I love it. It's big as hell, loaded with options, has the 3.5L V6 which at 253 hp is no sports car, but it's quick enough and it seats five adults in comfortable leather seats. By the way, we have a son who's only nine months old so the Corvette will just be daddy's toy. There's not really room for baby seats anyway. Having two cars will be nice.
Every day now I think about driving the 'Vette and I think I'm starting to get on my wife's nerves just a little bit. I just gotta be patient, save a ton of cash for a down payment on our first house and another pile of cash for the C5. No loans for me (except a mortgage
). I don't have ANY debt anymore so I'm not getting into debt for a car.

I bought my Vert in Las Vegas and just moved back to England recently. With the gas prices, it only comes out of the garage on nice days now. One thing though, it's certainly a head turner in Europe.
Buy that Vette and get it put in a box back to Denmark. You'll not regret it.

Nice car, man!
But no, I wouldn't put it in a container and send it to Denmark - I live here permanently (NJ) so the only way that would happen would be if my friends would get jealous and want me to send them one.
