It goes around the drivers door. The only place I've seen water leak through when washing my car is on top between the window and the seal. What's really weird is I park on an incline so the front end is up the driveway when it rains hard enough it will leak on my floor mat but when I'm at work on level pavement it won't leak.

I have never done a C5 door, but have done a C4 door. It is an hour job or so. Buy a new seal from GM and do it yourself.

I would do some problem solving first. Your comment about the incline and a leak, but level and no leak implies to me that there many be other factors involved.

Maybe the next hard rain sit in the car and see if you can see exactly where the water is coming from. Or have someone stand outside with a hose spraying (up, down side to side, slow, fast, etc) and watch for the water.

I can see what area it's coming from but if I close the door I won't be able to get my FAT A$$ in the car and close it.It just blows my mind that GM knows this is a problem with the corvettes laeking but won't do a recall on all of these leak problems.I have a extended warr with GM but as usual it's not covered and I let my dealership know about it where I bought it that they should honor this since I did buy from them but you know what they say when you buy used SOLD AS IS!

A couple of suggestions:

- Is the window adjusted so that it seats firmly against the seal when it is closed? If not, it can leak.

- Check the sticky called "Leak Checks" at the top of the C5 Tech Forum. It has a link to the Corvette Action center with GM Tech bulletins that cover all kinds of leaks - including the one I describe below.

Check the door seal where it meets the base of the A pillar (at the front edge of the door). I had a small pin hole there that caused quite a bit of water to leak on my drivers floor mat. The tech bulletin shows where to reseal - worked for me .

I can't take credit for this as it was posted by someone else but by golly I was smart enough to bookmark it

Might be worth a try before forking over $750...

If you have a Targa, try this also.

Roof Lift Off Panel Adjustment
1. Perform one or more of the following five adjustment procedures to properly align the roof lift off panel.

2. To adjust the front striker for up down roof alignment perform the following steps:
3. Remove the windshield upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
A. For major up down roof adjustment loosen the striker bolts and reposition the latch striker up or down.
B. For minor up or down roof adjustment loosen the striker outboard bolt and slightly loosen the inboard bolt, pivot the striker on the inboard bolt in 2 mm (0.08 in) increments up or down.
Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
C. Tighten the striker bolts. Tighten
Tighten the roof front latch handle striker bolts to 10 N•m (89 lb in).
D. When the striker is properly adjusted the handle will snap closed.
4. Install the windshield upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.

5. To adjust the front latch handle forward or rearward perform the following steps:
. Loosen the latch handle bolts.
A. Position the latch handle forward or rearward. Maintain a minimum of 2 mm (0.08 in) clearance between latch handle and the latch striker to avoid squeaks and rattles.
B. Assure the latch handle base is parallel to the striker to provide clearance to the sunshade mirror door.
C. Tighten the latch handle bolts. Tighten
Tighten the roof front latch handle bolts to 13 N•m (10 lb ft).

6. For major rear latch adjustment adjust the rear latch striker performing the following steps:
A. Remove the roof lift off panel.
B. Remove the roof bow center interior trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Roof Bow in Interior Trim.
C. Loosen the rear latch striker attaching bolts.
D. Adjust the position of the latch striker forward or rearward for major adjustment.
E. Tighten the striker attaching bolts. Tighten
Tighten the roof rear striker bolts to 10 N•m (89 lb in).
F. Install the roof lift off panel.

7. For minor rear latch adjustment, adjust the latch handle hook one turn at a time to achieve moderate pressure to the latch as follows.
. Remove the roof lift off panel.

$750 are they crazy? I think you could buy every piece of weather strip for the cabin area for that amount. I have replaced several pieces before on a C4 and a C5, most are just straight forward remove and replace. Some require some 3M weatherstrip adhesive, but not hard at all.
