[Z06] New member...advice?
Just bought my first corvette, it's an 01 Z06 raceway white. Just found out about this forum and can't believe all the information on here!
My Z06 is bonestock so just wanted to see what kind of tips you veteran members (things to avoid, must do's, must haves etc.) can give me starting off as I start to build my corvette with a myriad off afterparts.
Anyhow can't wait to interact with everyone as well add my own input.
Thanks,

Definately the CAGS and CLB are a must have. And anything else is up to you. A C6 Z shifter is a nice upgrade, get rid of that sloppy stock shifter for sure. And once you start modding, you won't stop!!!
Welcome aboard!

Nice Ride. Just keep an eye on oil consumption. Some 'O1s had consumption issues due to piston ring flutter at around 3000 rpm. Mine had to be re-ringed. Problem solved. Doubtful you'll have to go there.

And when you really want to wake her up and FLY without jeoparidizing any reliability or touching your motor do the following (if she is not fast enough for you already and she may be).
1. Cold Air Intake-Vararam, Honker, etc.
2. Long Tube Headers, x-pipe and high flow cats (can buy used for cheap)
3. 3.90 gears if you are a TRUE gear head and want TO FLY with the EAGLES.
4. Professional dyno tune on a dyno
THEN YOUR DONE unless you really want to get crazy and if you do see my sig.

Every one has his or her idea on what is right and works best. If you fall in to that trap, you will be purchasing part after part, system after system until either your wallet is empty or you fed up with re-doing the project 5-6 times to find something that suits YOU!
The very best thing that you can do is find a C5 that has been modified with a system that your interested in and ride in it or better yet, DRIVE IT! If you like (or LOVE) what you experienced, COPY IT!
The car is NEW to you and with that being said, I can bet you a COLD ONE that you need a CROW BAR to pry the smile off your face every time you drive it!
It most likely feels WICKED FAST as it currently sits. Learn your car! Read the owners manual! Purchase and watch the supplied video tape that was supplied with your car! You will learn a LOT about the car. When ever you have a question about the car or experience a problem with the car (yea,,,you will
), check the forum using a search to see what other people have done to fix it. If you cant find anything, post a question. You will receive answers. The best bet for seeing other Corvettes with MODs is going to one of the C5 or all corvette events. There are Tons of them. Check out the regional and events forum for your specific area. There is a very cool event coming up in MAY. The Forum Cruise In which takes place in Bowling Green KY is very cool with Tons of things to do and cool people to meet. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
Find other C5 owners in your area. They will usually be excited about meeting another C5 owner!
Welcome to the FORUM!
