Rotors without rust? Recommendations?
Rotors without rust? Recommendations? After I wash my car the rust drips from the brake rotors and makes a rusty mess in the center of my wheels. I am planning to replace my rotors. What is recommended that will not drip rust?

I have a set of Baer Eradispeeds on mine and they are zinc coated - been there for around 3 years and no rust. Sportbrakes makes a set of zinc coated rotors that are less expensive than the Baers if you don't want to spend that much. Finally, you can always paint the hats and vents on your existing rotors with a good quality paint and stop the rust.

You have three options:
1. Buy zinc coated rotors
2. Paint the hats with a high-temp paint
3. Get the hat covers like Ecklers sells. They have chrome, painted, or unpainted. If you go this route, I highly recommend that you treat the surface of the rotor hats with a metal rust inhibitor first, otherwise they will rust beneath the hat covers. Don't use the rust inhibitor on the area that the pads contact because most of those products change the color of the metal to a grayish black.

A cheap solution
I painted the hats on my rotors with high temperature paint ($12.00 for two cans of Duplicolor). Then, each time I wash my FRC, I dry it and buff it as normal, wipe down the engine compartment, buff my chrome wheels, then take her for a short spin applying the brakes frequently, not hard just touching. Heats up the rotors a little, water evaporates, whisks away any surface rust on rotors. Takes 5 minutes. Put her in the garage. No rust issues. Just a suggestion. Only costs the cost of 1 mile of gas.

My suggestion is paint the hats with a good high gloss black enamel. Doesn't have to be high temp paint, hats don't get that hot on a street driver.
Cheap, easy, looks good, won't rust. What more can I say!
