That's true, if you want to put up with the extra hassle of selling it yourself. It might take a while for someone to offer you a decent price for your vette. Then you have to deal with the tire kickers.. trading it in with the dealer is a great convenience, if you want to go that route.

No, it pays the bank the remainder of the loan in the case of your death. Hence, it's so-called name "Croak and choke" insurance. But think about it. If you're dead, do you really care about the bank? Why should YOU pay to insure THEM? It's not a good deal, except for the bank. The price of the insurance is also marked up by the dealer so they can make more profit on each vehicle, which they think about constantly.

Priority Acura of Chesapeake, VA did. (where i got my vette). Of course I declined!

True, but insurance should never be purchased from a dealer. If you want gap insurance you will get a better deal elsewhere.

Are you CRAZY? Buying a car is a huge hassle, unless you're just paying cash. To get the best deal you've gotta go round and round with them.
I have to agree with Korte on this one. Although the "buyer experience" on the average car lot has gotten better over the years, most people still don't relish the haggling showdown come time to make a purchase. The lead up and anticipation to purchasing a car is still a wonderful experience, but that goes out the window once the haggling on the lot commences. And selling a car by any other means than trading it in is a major PIA. That's why so many people are willing to take the financial hit to trade in. I think the decision before 2000c5guy is a big one for many of the reasons Korte cites.

I actually raced an automatic c6 (my car is stock) last summer from one light to the next and beat him by about 3/4 car length (his was a 2005 c6). As far as keeping up with a c6, i think i can hold my own. I have also handed a 300c srt8 his *** about a month ago. The performance issue of my c5 is no problem. I think i really came across a gem. I am the 2nd owner and got it with 25,000 on it. It was owned by a 60 year old man that only drove it on hot days (i have talked with the original owner). SHORTBUS,,, What would you sugest i start with to get me closer to that c5 z06 mark??
Strap a supercharger on that thing and call it a day. Sleeper? Nah, it's a Vette.

If you are wanting to do something.
Might check on the terms of that extended warranty first? Good luck

Another thing to think about selling it yourself: Test drives. What if it gets wrecked, or just doesn't make it back? You're out money and a Vette.

It depends on what turns you on to the z06?
If it's looks get the screens and teh functioning brake duckts
If it's performance well that's just easy. The guys that upgrade their Z's sell there stock stuff. You can buy it or you can go bigger. Brakes are viisble and performance. Exhaust and intake components are the same, you get sounds and performance. And the suspension can be done too. I have a few stock z06 parts on mine but mostly aftermarket that is a step above that anyway. You can make your car put down more to the rear wheels than a stock z06 without ever cracking the engine block.

As for looks you can get everything they got execpt for the fixed roof (which I think is ugly anyways, I'd take the coupe hatch)

Here is my baby, and I love here. Oh yeah and the z06 rims are enroute as we type

Sweet lookin' car. That will turn more heads out on the boulevard than the average c6.

I am going through the car buying process right now. I have a 2001 C5 coupe with a shade under 50k. Comparing my car to yours is pretty close to apples and oranges. My car is in really good shape and they're only going to give me 21k for it, and thats with quite a few upgrades (exhaust, shifter, s/d rotors, CAI, larger sways etc...) I seriously thought about selling it myself, but when it comes down to it, unless you get a really good deal, your only envoking frustration and time. I don't know if you have to pay sales tax, but that is another thing that set me off from selling it myself.

I am looking at getting a 04 Z06, but there are a few tips that might help you out if you decide to buy. 1. Try to buy it at the end of the month. Salesmen are trying to get their sales up at the end of the month and are willing to wheel and deal a little more. 2. Don't be afraid to walk. Get it so your numbers are close to what you want, but tell them that it just doesn't feel right and leave. I could almost gurantee you that they'll call you back to try and make it happen (especially if it's close to the end of the month).

Hope this helps, personally, I really like the look of the C5 Z06. I have driven both (C5 Z06 and 2006 C6 w/ Z51) and each car has its perks. But ultimately it comes down to what you want.

Good luck.

If you trade-in your car with a lot of mods, you're probably out of luck. They never add on for that stuff. Or options either. And that's true, you can walk out anytime, and they KNOW it. Dont be afraid to kick some ***!

When I bought my 04 coupe, I was going round and round with them for hours. I explained the price I was going to pay (with a reasonable profit for the dealer), and nothing more. They were just giving me crap, so I walked out, possibly never hearing from them again.

Well, two days later, I get a phone call. The "No" had turned into a "Let's talk". The next day I went in, and, after a bit more of their crap, I finally got the deal I wanted.

Being in the military, I know how to play the psych games. Open up a can of WHOOP *** on these car salesmen!

I was a scout sniper in recon platoon for the 5th marines. you?? I had alot of fun, but it was time to go. I think i saw too much to quick at too young of age and just needed to get away and come home. I am sure you know what i mean! Just remember: Not quite as lean, not quite as mean, but still a Marine! OOH RAH BRO!

I'm at Norfolk Naval Station Virginia!! HSC-2 (Helseacombatron 2) shore based Sikorsky MH-60 Sierra helicopters! We do mainly training pilots, airframers, mechs, tweeks (me), and PRs. We do search and rescue missions, functional check flights, rescue diver drops, boat hops, and aircrew training. We have 6 helicopters but we're getting 4 more in the next few weeks.

Korte, sounds like they are keepin ya busy. hahaha! I enjoyed my time in and sometimes miss it and miss my buddies, but lord knows were i'd be right now if i would have stayed in. It sucks hearing about the boys gettin killed over there. i was there the first time but did'nt see half as much as the guys now. I really hope they can adjust when they come home. Thats gonna be really tough for them. Alot of sleepless nights and some paranoia. If you choose to stay in, good luck to you and stay safe. OOH RAH! SEMPER FI!

sell it outright. dont trade it in. take the equity after the sell and put it down on a new c6 with a dealership that gives you the best deal.
