anyone encounter problems with their cd player not reading discs. any disc that i load is not being read, err flashes on the display and the cd is ejected. anyone have a clue?
If they are burned discs and not factory, some brands of disc won't work. I've had the same problem.
You didn't say whether you had the changer in the trunk. That's the only unit that gave me an error message. Probably had condensation on the discs or the carrier wasn't seated properly.
Hmm. I'm assuming it worked OK prior to this episode? When inserting the CD did you push it in a little and let the mechanism take the disc in, or did you try to force it? If you try to force it you'll get an error message. (OK, let the dirty minds take their turn! )
Try dis-connecting your battery so it can "re-boot" itself... I had the same thing happen once, no big deal... I think it's how I handled it. Good luck.

Don't have to disconnect the battery, just pull the fuse (it's in the engine compartment fuse box, not inside the "cockpit." Wait 20 minutes and put it back in. This "resets" the head unit.

This has been an increasing problem here. But the fact is, your screwed man.
You have to either get a replacement stock unti or go aftermarket. (or pay a rediculous amount to have your unit fixed).
My unti was reading "err" only occasionaly. then it got worse, and worse, and worse. It was driving me crazy. I finally found a stock replacement for a good price. you can get one for around $100-140. If you go aftermarket you have to replace the whole system or spend approx. $350.00 for the neccessary adapters to use your existing bose system with an aftermarket headunit.

I had that problem when the player was set to "shuffle" and the weather was hot (over 85 degrees)....but ONLY under THOSE conditions.
I now have an Alpine HU...much better!

My 01 with 12k on it has never taken burned CD's in the head unit. I don't have the changer. All store bought work fine, it was the same in a couple of my other cars as well. I never knew if I needed to switch brands of disc's or if it was normal. I now have a MP3 player which fixed everything.
If there is an easy fix, or if a certain kind of disc works, please let me know.

I have 2003 50 A/E Corvette and do not drive it that much, well today I took it out and I wanted to play a cd from cd changer, and I received the following Err on the radio. I tried all the recomentations but nouthing worked. Can someone help me out on this....
Are the CD's right side up in the changer cartridge? The first time I used my changer, I set the CD's on the trays label side up - the label is supposed to be on the bottom when you set the CD on the cartridge tray. It will give you the same ERR message if you do this.

If your having issues with Store bought CD's and Home made CD's then read my procedure how to clean the laser. I bet it will fix your issues. It has on mine and many others.

I highly suggest to take your 12 disk apart to clean the laser.
The laser just gets a build up of crud on it from over the years. It happens on the head unit too like my procedure above details.

He is not screwed at all .... just a dirty Laser. Easy fix !
I hope you still have your original head unit.
Clean the laser like my procedure above details and I bet it fixes it.
Your issue is text book for a laser getting dirty over time. Mine was the same.
