I asked the same question on the c6 forum the other week. To be fare I thought I would post it here too. I'm looking at about $46K out the door for a new 1lt, z51 c6. I'm just not sure I want to spend that much. Or a low mi 02,03 for $30. What should I do???
kerbeck has been running the special of just under 40k for the c6 with a 1lt package for a while now and many other dealers have matched it but i dont know what the net cost will be "out the door" with taxes.
I like both the 5 and the 6 but will hopefully be getting a c5 next yr when my lease is up. the 6 does lose out with looks just cant beat the popup headlights and size of the 5. altho the 6 has indexing glass which is pretty darn nifty.
Thanks guys. I change my mind every day I thought about a 05 but I don't like getting the 1st year of any car. Maybe if it gets above 20 degrees next week I'll do some shoping.
I love my c5, but the c6 is better... Go ahead a trash me c5 owners, but i had a c3 and my 2 c4's were better than them, and my c5 is better than my c4's, get the picture! Technology has proven each vette gets better. if you can get a c6 for a few grand more than any c5, you will be better off. I love my c5, but when funds are available it will be replaced with a c6....Ok, I am ready for my spanking...

The C6 is a really nice car, but I would get a C5 Z06 for considerably less money and invest the rest. If you really want the new body style, try an '06 C6 - should be able to get a decent deal on a used one of those.

Alot of people like the c6 but not me. I don't like the newwer styling, I don' t care if it drives better ( I don't want to drive one ignorance is bliss) But there are perks to each. Drive each one and ask yourself. Does this feel $15k better. And if it's just faster that you like a c5 with 10k in the motor will hurt a lot of cars feelings.
Either way if you get a vette you will love it. Evan if it is an ugly ol c6

How about a good condition older C5 with a gazillion miles for about $15K, turn a wrench occasionally, and invest the rest? I think they all drive about the same.
I have a 2000 FRC and I absolutely love it. if they made a C6 with a trunk i would probably get one. I looked at the C6s and drove them and it just didnt have the feel my C5 has. I couldnt ask for a better car other than the new Z06 but cant justify the price
IMHO The C-5 Looks better. I don't really care for the Lemans headlights or the looks of the flipped up rear,(I LOVE the look of my 98's BIG BUTT !) but I could live with them. I do like the interior though.
Drive a few of each and find whats comfortable fit for YOU !!!
Good points on both sides. Now (March 1?) you can get a certified used C5 from a GM dealer with the 100k warranty. The C6 has a nicer interior and is very quiet. Too quiet if you ask me. Sure, it is higher tech, but the C5 is no slouch. I have an 04 and don't feel the 25k or so to upgrade to a C6 is worth it. Nice car, but not 25k better.

I almost bit the bullet and traded my '04 on an '07 with their 0% APR financing, but the difference wasn't worth it. If you're planning on just joy-riding I think the C6 is a nicer touring car (amenities and comfort, etc). If you're wanting to really lay down some power, the C5 gives you a cheaper platform to build from. Both cars are nice, just comes down to how much you want to spend and what you want to do with it.
