Default plugs and wires

Anyone go to a high performance spark plug and wire set up. I saw a set of racing plugs and wires and was thinking about purchasing. If anyone has tried a higher performance plug and wire set up i would like to know if they noticed any diferences in their car?

The stock plugwires are fine, there's no need to upgrade unless you got money burning a hole in your pocket...

As a general rule,I change my plugs & wires in all my cars every 40k miles.

In the 02 Z, I use NGK TR55 plugs & Taylor 84244 wires( Red).

NGK wires and Irdium IX plugs. The wires are much more beefer and the plug electrodes have more surface area. In my mind I feel the difference as I am sure its at least a nono-second quicker.

The placebo effect is great

I've looked into this too and can't find any evidence that upgrading wires benefits power unless replacing bad ones. I can see going with a higher heat resistant jacket if you're burning them or a different color if that's your thing.

I'm using the same setup on my car and it works very well.

I use Autolite wires which you can buy off the shelf at Advance Auto for about 34 bucks a set. The resistance was about the same as stock and the wire boots look identical.

I'm running MSD wires because my stock wires were in bad shape and TR6 NGK plus because I have nitrous on the car.

I went with NGK TR55 copper-core plugs gapped at .060" and GM Performance 8mm wires. The copper-core plugs aren't supposed to last as long as the iridium but supposedly deliver a better spark. The wires fit perfectly and accepted the stock metal heat shields. Overall very happy with the setup and koolsox provided added protection against the heat from my headers...

You cant beat the GM 8mm red performance wires! There inexpensive, and durable and fit the stock shields. DO NOT purchase wires to increase HP! They will NOT add any more HP than what you had unless your old wires were shot and causing engine issues (misfires)

Purchase spark plug wires for quality and fit. If the jackets are made of a good quality silicone, the boots fit snug and the metal attachment connectors inside the boots snap on to the plugs and coil ends with a nice tight fit, it a good wire!
