Smooth - C6Z shifter

Short, notchy, know it is in gear, better for racing - Kirban, Hurst, BPP, B&M

I would buy the C6 shifter and **** from Gene Culley, install it, and drive with it for a while. I think you will enjoy it. You can always sell it if you don't like it for not much less than what you'll pay for it. You'll never know if you don't try it.

Very true ! I've already sold the BPP and am awaiting the the cash. It looks like Gene Culley is offering free shipping tomorrow (2/21) as well. Looks like I'll be buying it and trying it !

After that.... who knows ?? Maybe the new B&M Sport Shifter ??

The c6z shifter gives you the same feel as the stock shifter as far as shifting effort and smoothness. But the lower, angled shifter handle along with an awesome **** give the c6z a huge edge over the stock unit. The new positioning gives it a much better feel without the notchiness of some of the other shifters out there.

I have the B&M and its like anything else it takes time to get used to. When I first drove the car with it, i said to myself this is way too notchy and has to go. After a little bit I got used to it and now like it.

So which Ripper do you have, the old style or the new sport shifter (45044) ??

I've had to replace my heads, and decided to make other mods while the car was out of commission, and haven't put more than 200 miles on the car since last fall. I DO like it so far, but like I tried to say, it's not perfect, but is there really a perfect shifter with an internal rail type T-56? This ain't the 'ol days of Hurst Competition+, and Muncie M-21s. I could powershift my old Camaro with the yard-long throws, and stock Muncie shifter better than I can the new trans.
I just purchased a new shifter boot that was modified to fit the C6Z06 shifter in a C5 - check out http://www.redlinegoods.com/

Ordered the shifter today and I'll be ordering a new shift boot as well.

What did you pay for your boot ?? Do they carry it in the commemorative "shale" color ?

I have the 45044 and at first it was really notchy and hard for drag...btut after 2 months, it is working out. I plan to do the Venom fix with the washer and all.

I like it though.

...and if you get a new boot, do you need to get a new "plastic ring" that the boot goes into or can you use the stock C5 ring?

There's really no need to replace the boot unless you just want to go a different route. I used the OEM boot and it looks fine. Read here as this is what I did.

Very true, you can reuse your stock ring. Or you can order this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...4712&rd=1&rd=1

Yes, I used the stock ring. My old shifter boot had a tear in it anyway, so I got the whole kit - boot, e-brake handle, door handles, dash handle, and console... They can customize the leathers just about any way you would want - just email or PM them (They are a supporting vendor...)

I got the ENTIRE set for ~$150 - I think it's listed for $170 now, but RedlineGoods sometimes offers a discount, just search through the forum or check out this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=redlinegoods

I reused my stock ring - I was told that the C6 boot and ring are not the same and would require modification.

Good luck.

Well I received and installed my 07 Z06 shifter. It's been about a week and a half now..... All I'm gonna say is, it's a STOCK shifter. Not as mushy as the stock C5 shifter, and SLIGHTLY shorter throws.

Oh well...... the search continues.

At least it'll be easy to sell. Looks like you're down to about 3 other choices.

I think you're right. Had the hurst and hated it, tried the BPP and ....eehhhh. I'll be trying the new Ripper, #45044, next and "probably" staying with that one.
