I always get stopped by the young cops too. Maybe they just want to have "pulled over a Vette today babe" to tell their wife or girlfriend. Sometimes I think deep down they hopping that we will try and run so they can get in a police chase with Vette. As long as I get a warning they can stop me any time they want.
And yeah, cops are always realy cool with me too when I get stopped in the Vette. More and more I am begining to think cops like Corvettes.
I retired after 26 yrs. from the Okla. Highway Patrol and I tell all my friends to be polite and show respect if you are ever pulled over.I have written tickets to people at 10 over with attitudes and warnings at 25 over for folks who are wise enough to behave properly.I rarely had my mind made up as to ticket or warning until I talked to the driver and observed their attitude.
Proof positive that not opening a big mouth to the LEO can reap rewards...not always, but good for you.
Several LEO friends have told me many times that if you're polite and contrite, you have a much better chance of a warning or a pass than if you give them lip and attitude.
good for you, cops always make me uncofortable even when im not doing anythin, good to see that they gave you a break... and that your thanking him for it

I'm very happy for your "slap of reality" I got one of the same from a NJ State Trooper a few years ago and it did its job as I am more aware of my speed since. You must have been on the Black Horse Pike when you were "warned" and you are a very lucky man tonight. Although I'm happy for your good fortune 74 MPH is way too fast for that road, again assuming that's the road you were on.
bet you are more careful now. The few times I have had close calls with the law like that I have always gotten off easier than what I was doing (almost always, that is ). I have had one ticket in the past five yrs and it was for a seat belt (well 70 in a 55 but I got seatbelt, see what I mean)
Moral of the story: be nice to the police, they are just doing their job and in my experience they LOVE it when you actually smile and be friendly. They are the GOOD guys, and if we weren't scared of getting in trouble with them there would be a lot more dead vette owners IMO.
What? No posts telling the guy to go out and hire a lawyer and demand that he be ticketed??
Yeah. And where are the anti-LEO posts? Didn't think so. See, just like in every aspect in life. There are the good and the bad. No need to label all as one.
