Default Re-Paint?

Hi I was just curious of the Pro's and Con's of Repainting my C5....My buddy owns a body shop and said he could repaint my C5 for dirt cheap.....My question is...I really like the Millenium Yellow, would it be a bad idea to have my C5 painted that or should I just have repainted the stock Sebring Silver. I'm really not concerned with re-sale, since I plan on keeping it a while. Thanx in advance!

You got to look at it this way. Are you worried about resale? When you went looking for your c-5, did you come across any that have been repainted? If you did or didn't , wouldn't you be hesitant to buy not knowing exactly why it was repainted? If you don't worry or you are going to drive your vette untill the cows come home, paint it. Its YOUR car.

It would be worth re painting just to get rid of the orange peel. If I were looking for one again I might have gone with a cheaper car, just to use the price difference for new paint. Although my car is black and shows allot more.

If you never have plans to sell it, I would repaint it But do it right and paint every little crack and cranny so that you can never tell that it was another color.

Well if I could upgrade to a 2000 or newer Yellow vert, I would, but I cant really afford to. My vette really does need a repaint, ecspecially in the front nose and behind each wheel. Like I said before, resale doesnt really concern me, I plan on keeping my vette for a while....

Just be sure the new paint job is going to be GOOD. A job done poorly would be worse than no paint job at all.

"Dirt Cheap" is the operative phrase.

Good quality paint jobs are never cheap - no matter who does them. Just the prep work getting ready for the new paint is expensive and there are a lot places that are silver now that will be hard to paint out a different color.

If the current paint job needs work, it would be better to repaint it the same color or buy a new car with the color you like.

Repainting a car always comes out better when painted the original color.
But remember, "you get what you pay for!"
I have never gotten a "deal" on anything that was worth a damn when viewed in hindsight! Especially from a friend!
Good luck though...

If you are not concerned about re sale than a color change isn't a problem. The larger concern is to be sure that you get a quality paint job. Just my $.02.

I don't think it will be "cheap" to change colors and do the job right.

will not make a bit of difference on re-sale....even the color. The C5 is not and will not be a collector car. Many C5's are getting to the age where they need repainted.
If he does a good job do it....but look at his work first

Only problem with yellow. It is a bug light. If you go to cruises or shows look at the yellow cars at dusk.

Well first off you said you are not worried about resale and 2nd MY is a great and likeable color by many---so I don't think you can go wrong if you stay with a vette color. My car was Sebring Silver in October. Take a look...BTW she is still in the garage so I do not have any outdoor pics yet.

From this--

To this--

And that last pic is before the ground effects and other little goodies we added..It's yours---customize it if you are not worried about resale---I did and i get tons of compliments and she is not even out fo the gargae yet.. And no Bear does not come with the car....

If, and this is a big if, you can be assured that the end result will be a top quality job, then go for it.
